Alex is Person that you help. I help him out when he comes to me near the race at Richmond. He goes for SturtKahuna wrote:Don't know if anyone will find my story of Saturdays game of interest but for what it is worth here goes.
I got to the game about half way through the third quarter of the reserves and almost immediately I was approached by a disabled bloke who presented me with his budget and a biro and asked me to mark the players who would not be part of the League side.I explained that I had just that minute arrived and hadn't had a chance to line up who was in the 2's but listed in the League squad but that I thought Brad Currie to be a scratching. He appeared satisfied with this and went on his way and I thought no more of it until he approached me again in the last quarter.Again he gave me his Budget and I saw that he had ruled out Andrew Hayes who was playing reserves."I worked it out myself" he said.I congratulated him and he wandered off again, stopping and showing several other people what he had done, all of who listened to him and didn't seem to just fob him off as sometimes may happen. However, his next mission was to climb the stairs into the Centrals coaches box.Daniel Healy and his staff were in there as was Roy Laird.Upon entering the box he offered his Budget to the occupants and it was Laird himself who politely told the guy he could not stay in the box as the coaching staff had to do their jobs. The bloke offered him his budget again and appeared to explain who he thought was in or out.Laird steered him out and back down the stairs and then stood with the guy for a few moments, placing an arm round his shoulder inspected his Budget ,congratulated him, confirmed his scratchings, said he hoped he enjoyed the game and went off to attend to his duties.
I don't know if the bloke knew who he was talking to,but full credit to the people who gave him the time of day and especially to Roy Laird who made my day with the kindness and respect he showed the fella.I know it was a minor thing and probably witnessed by nearly nobody but it was a really heartwarming thing to see.
edit:Game Review--- It was good.
