Bottom line was we didnt bat anywhere near well enough yesterday...wouldnt have mattered where the game was when the majority of your wickets fell to blokes chipping crap deliveries to fieldsmen you arent going to win too many games. Well done to Angaston and rumour has it that Kapunda have about 6 players out next Sunday so will be interesting to see how that goes...
It was a little bit curious that the decision was made to move from Kapunda at 12:30 due to the moisture on the surrounds but we werent able to get the game started at Freeling until 2pm because of some significant puddles! I reckon the game could have gotten underway at Kapunda by 1:30 and we could have had a hit on turf...
I think a couple of the Angaston spectators might have to have a good, hard look at themselves after some of the ridiculous personal sledging occurring yesterday directed at one of our players. I thought it was a bit rich coming from a bloke that, as far as I know, has never played a game of A grade cricket. It was a relief to see the association president there keeping things under control though...

According to my reports there was a four person meeting on Friday night to change the venue if Kapunda was too wet. Gawler found out this on arriving at Kapunda at 12:00 midday, when the umpire said where going to Freeling to play on hard wicket its an executive decision. This begs the question why are not all one day game changed on a Friday night to accomodate wet weather instead of listing them as a draw? Surely the competition is due for a new president or one that acts in a professional manner on and off the ground, this sounds like a backyard cricket competition with rules changing every five minutes to suit indiviuals on the board and not the associations best interests. Time for a change. VOTE 1 - Daniel Doecke for president.

Heard he was sitting next to the guy that was yelling out and encouraging him, Does James Sutherland or Ian McLachlan encourage people to yell out abuse at cricket australia games? Probably goes to show one of a list of many instances of unprofessionalism that the current man in charge has shown in his time
Believe the president was re elected unopposed, purely a volunteer role so if people dont like it maybe they should be putting their hand up to do the job. Heard plenty of complaining before the AGM but as usual no one offers to do the job

Sorry didnt realize the president was responsible for other individuals actions. And you were there were you TT and heard the pres make encouraging remarks, i think not.

Time for a bit of balance and facts to the argument.
At the Agm the exe3c was given the power to move games if another ground was available and as there was only 2 games on there was plenty of ovals available. The back up ovals were put in place saturday of which Gawler Central knew as they were asked if Gawler oval was available and if so they would have played a home final in the event of the game being moved. As Gilbert valley would have at Saddleworth if Eudunda was unfit for play. The exec did not make the descision to move the game, they merely put in place a back up plan. It was totally the umpires call on the day. Every member of the exec that was not involved with any of the clubs participating were all in favour of the back up plans being put in place.
Bottom line as Extractor said GC batted poorly, 3 wickets fell to full tosses. As did Gilbert Valley i would imagine.

i think you will find this was the amendment that was voted on and carried....... ‘GVCC motion presented and amended to read “The Executive may have the power to move a game from turf wicket to hard wicket if human error or vandalism causes prevention of play – Moved R matter sec W Molineux Carried’ ................i cant see anything here saying the game can be moved due to wet weather. What a joke, so much for the team that finishes higher getting the advantage. The BLCA exec need to have a good hard look at themselves, and for the pres that may take a while.................this association needs to be moving forward and not made to look like a joke.
And the turf clubs want the assoc to buy them covers for all their pitches so that a game of cricket can be played in these circumstances. The exec has used common sense to ensure a game can be played. The exec cant win if the game was cancelled there would have been people saying why didnt you move the game to a hard wicket.
This will be the end of the discussion on here for me, if you have a problem have your club bring it up through the right channels

A bit of balance..............you dont know whats going on days!! You say a back up plan was put in place on SATURDAY - LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE THE GAME ( A JOKE ) and Gawler Central knew about it.............i know for a fact that NO-ONE on the GCCC Exec committee knew about any back up plan. You also say that the back up oval was GAWLER OVAL..............so why did the game get changed to FREELING OVAL!!!!! Did you forget to tell the umpires that the back up oval was Gawler Oval????? Did you call another Exec meeting on sunday at 12pm to make up another rule????? You are supposedly the Pres of this competition or are you MERELY there as a back up plan................
Pretty sure i read he was elected unopposed? From a outsider looking there is alot of people who bag the president but yet he gets in unopposed? How long has he been doing it for? Must be doing something right....if you get out to 3 full tossers it doesnt matter where you played... i know a few of the gc boys and i reckon they would rather play than win by washout, sure finishing top should have its advantages but only if the game is started imo... i have prayed for rain or heat a few times but never before a game is started

The BEST team would have won no matter where it was played, Neither team was advantaged, the whinging is just sad. Gawler had their chance BUT they got pantsed, Ergo, they don't play the final. Take it like men or go and play with the kids.........pathetic. A team that is upset about not walking through on a forfeit deserves to win nothing.

well said stewie we were the better team against their second XI bring on two weeks time when we play their first XI then they have no excuses
