Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
Haha day shift so up early! Prob not a great result for us, a win to port would have left us a game and a half behind na Fianna should we win on Sunday but now really only gives us an outside shot at 4th unless na fiannas wheels well and truely fall off and we beat all four top teams....which is virtually impossible

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
The Taints got absolutely pantsed by Onkas yesterday. Cant remember the score - but pretty sure our percentage would have been better off forfeiting on Friday night rather than rescheduling it to yesterday... They kicked about 5 maximums after about 2 minutes.
Western Ireland JUST beat Mitcham i believe. An excellent fisted maximum (sounds suss) by a Hawks forward made it very close late on!

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
MENS GAELIC RE-COMMENCES THIS WEEK IN BOTH LEAGUES
In 7s on Wednesday night both 8.45 games will be pivotal in the shaping of the final 4 and should be very evenly matched as Na Fianna take on the young Flinders boys and Steve Irwins come up against the other minor mob from Western Ireland. With the Pirates and the Crikeys sitting 3rd and 4th respectively and the 2 young teams sitting just outside the 4 it will be a very interesting night of 7s i have no doubt.
In State League action the match of the round will no doubt be the clash between The Goats and the Saints on Sunday. Im very much looking forward to seeing how all teams shape up after the break. There is normally an upset first week back and im certain the Flinders Reds will be keen to inflict said upset on their arch nemises from Onkaparinga. Who will ever forget the controvesy (say it like Billy Birmingham
) surrounding the leaking of documents in "FlindersGate" or was it "OnkasGate"
last year. These teams dislike each other and i hope they really serve it up too each other and provide a red hot game of Gaelic
Finally i am hearing a ton of hype regarding PDFC upcoming tilt at Div 2 this SAAFL season and they have been locked in as raging faves for the flag. I have no doubt that the "Toast and the Rocket" will be looking to start the momentum as of this Friday night. I am very glad we have already played them twice as they will win most of their games for the remainder of the season i am tipping.
Finally could ALL REFS please check both the 7 a side roster and State League rosters for the remainder of the year as they are up. In the last game of the year i had to REF my own club WHICH S*CKED *SS! And i wouldnt wish it on anyone. Well done to both Port and Na Fianna for getting on with the game and not worrying about who had the whistle. Great Integrity was shown by both clubs
SEE YOU ALL SOON AT GAELIC PARK FOR THE BUSINESS END OF THE SEASONS

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
Too right WW, will be good to see the men back at Gaelic HQ this week. I went down to watch our girls play last weekend & it reminded me how much I missed the place!
A couple of top match ups this week with a little fuel added to one of them during the week.

Not sure which one your talking about
Would it be the nasty interaction between the Na Fianna Coach and The Irish Australians Coach in Coles on Monday as Coach Matt Doecke flagranty broke the 8 items or less rule in the Express checkout
OR
Perhaps Onkas and Flinders not coming to terms on a re-scheduling issue to has infuriated the hierachy of the Reds allegedly. I wouldnt wanna be the one to try and control that game

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
We will be missing numerous players this week. Not angry at onkas at all, they would beat our best side nine times out of ten anyway. Bit disappointed with scheduling as we have made it clear at the start of the year that we would like to avoid fri night fixtures. Considering we have ticked all the right boxes in regard to a ref, committee member, sevens sides and junior development I would have hoped some parties at a higher level could have been more accommodating. Having said that it will be an interesting meeting this Monday night I would think...

The meeting will certainly have its moments but interesting is a strong word when discussing a 3 hour meeting.
I must say Nev your taking the non re-scheduling very well considering they did it for St. Brendans and its a rep from Onkas who actually did the draw this year

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
That is true, but as I said onkas are a class above our current side and it may be awhile until we develop enough to be able to challenge them again. Although we are probably the only side that has a mathematical chance of replacing st brendans in fourth spot their change of fixture hardly assisted them anyhow. I think the main issue that needs to be dealt with however is the issue of 13 and 15 a side. St brendans are definitely a better 13 a side team with their fitness and pace and has greatly assisted their percentage this year I feel....definately creates an uneven playing field...

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
RESULTS FROM TONIGHTS 7s
The Angry Leppers had their first win of the season with a 7 point win over the much improved Tigers in their new strip. Its colour can only be described as Dingoes Orange. The highlight was the return to Gaelic park of the most sucessful minor footballer in SAs rich Australasian history. Welcome back Tommy G
The Flinders old boys walloped the Dingoes by about 27 points. Christian Neeson continued his excellent year in the 7s comp whilst Shauny Beiber scored a great goal for the boys who ate Azaria.
St Brendans were too strong for the boys from the Beach getting over the line comfortably despite the devestating loss of Johnny Peg for the year. I wanna wish him all the best in his recovery.
Na Fianna overcame a hefty half time deficet against the quick and skillfull Flinders minors to win comfortably enough. The Midfield connection known as Mac and Cheese were the standouts for the Pirates and helped swing the game. Fiery bloodnut Matty Morabito was excellent in goals for the reds backing up in his second game of the night.
The baby Goats of West Ireland upset an undermanned Steve Irwin allstars by 10 points. Playing with only 6 in the first half and without their star the big Rhino the Steves gave away too big a start. Young Harry was the most dangerous fwd for the night for WI whilst Aldo Floreanis son played the role of quaterback beautifully as well. James Propelactic was covering everything for the Steves and Lewis Curl and Fluff battled his locks out as well.

We only play 13-a-side when we have less than 15 players. We played 15 aside against powerhouse Western Ireland with the bare 15 and they had 20ish and have played against other teams with the bare 15 - even tho with the rules they way they we could have requested 13aside. In our percentage booster against your boys we played 13-a-side as BOTH our teams had less than 15 players IIRC... not sure how we could have played 15 aside there?? The other booster was against Mitcham and that was 15aside. We played 13aisde against Na Fianna as we started the game with 14 players, and had the 15th rock up at 1/2 time. Our numbers have been average this year.
The Taints coaching staff has been the SA state coaching staff for the past 2 seasons - we support 15aside football in SA as that's what we play at Championships (and get belted at it).

If a team rocks up game day with only 13 thats bad luck they should be forced to play against 15 players of the opposition.

IM ALMOST CERTAIN MENS LEAGUE WILL BE 15 A SIDE NEXT YEAR UNLESS IT GETS BLOCKED AT THE AGM WHICH I HIGHLY DOUBT.

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
We have been guilty of not having 15 on numerous occasions but I do think it is unfair on clubs who gave more than 15 to play 13 a side so I hope that it is a 15 a side comp next year so it is even for all. Not having a go at st brendans, have great respect for them and their officials and it is true we were short that week but it was our only game that we have played 13 a side and we were terrible, but that's not taking anything away from their awesome performance

By the sound of it our teams committee member is not the only one to ask for the 15 a side issue to be added to next weeks meeting.
