Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
RESULTS FROM ROUND 5 OF 7s
St. Brendans 5.22-37 def Flinders minors 3.4-13
The story of this game was the Saints unearthing 3 new Irishmen into the mix. 2 of them were the best 2 players on the park and will pose a huge headache to opposition teams in State League as they assimilate into both forms of Gaelic. The other one is a really nice guy and bears a resemblance to Vince Vaughan
Flinders O,Neil 5.14-29 def Angry Leps 2.11-17
Flinders dominated the first half through the grunt and bussle of Toddy Elbows and the polished finishing of "The Lovechild" Todd McSorely. With the breeze in the second half the Angrys got Angry and the run of Soxy fed young Harry to get the Leps within 8 but the deficiet was too big to bridge and Flinders got the chocolates.
Steve Irwin Allstars 5.16-31 def Dingoes 2.2-8
This was the most enjoyable game i have reffed all year despite the temp dropping to 11 degrees. Whilst all i could hear on pitch 1 was constant dissent, arguing and hissy fits to the ref (at times over rules that dont exsist
- thats my pet hate) on Pitch 2 it was the epitome of what SOCIAL 7s is meant to be. There was plenty of sh*ts and giggles as well as some high tempo Gaelic footy and even a little bit of blood spilt but the game was played in the correct spirit.
Best for the Steves was Ryano "Yes" Darling, Harry and the artist formerly known as "Curl and Fluff" who has moved into goals and is now known as "Blinkers" due to his thirst for shooting or getting himself into a shooting position. For the Dingoes Josh scored a couple of unders including what i rate as the best Dingoes goal yet and Scotty Mac was in everything as usual.

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
Onkas 5.19-34 def Na Fianna 3.8-17
Christies Beach 5.10-25 def Tigers 5.7-22
The Beach win a close one after falling by a point and 6 points in the first 2 rounds.
Didnt ref them so cant really say too much about these 2 contests.
Next weeks 6.45 game between Na Fianna v Steve Irwins should be an epic contest with a crowd of somewhere between 20-25 expected (not thousand). I am very much hoping to be able to pull on the boots for this one in my cameo appearance of the year. Its uncertain whether i,ll go out there and rough up Big Ryano, be put in Goals to create the impenetrable fortress or be given the licence to use my explosive pace to cut through the crocodile hunters. Whatever the assignment im very much looking forward to showing the comp the most electrifying 90 seconds of football they are likely to see

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
I'm hearing rumors that the Taints have signed a marquee player for a guest stint in tonight's clash - securing the signature of former player Benny Way who has recently been playing his trade with Fox Sports in Sydney and moonlighting in KFC commercials... here's hoping that Benny secured some sort of "KFC for life" deal from the Colonel for those adds, and he can provide a couple of buckets for the St Marys faithful this evening!

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
With the summer scorcher seeing temperatures crack the 10 degree mark last night at St.Marys.....
St. Brendans 7.13-34 def Mitcham who scored the airport hotel/motel number (000). Dissappointing for the Hawk boys after breaking the duck last week whilst it was quite the opposite for the Saints. The unearthing of 3 new Irish boys who all made good contributions will be very handy as the season progresses. But the highlights for me personally was the return of 2 old stalwarts in former State captain and Australasian Player Clinton "ManTan" Lush and all the way from Sydney fox sports news own Tom Chadwich
Onkas 1.11-14 def W.I 2.7-13 in the battle of 1 v 2 in a thrilling game that was very quick and skillfull despite the challenging conditions. Scores were level going into the last minute of the game and the Gerry Roe inside me said blow the whistle now and make it draw but i withstood the demonds within and it allowed an unlikely hero to step up. From a deflection of a 45m kick it was "the whipped one" who had the ball land in his lap just 7-8m out and he calmly mis kicked an ugly point with about 30 seconds to play. WadeO Saunders fighting injury and Jack Horan combating a lack of height were the key contributors for their respective teams in what was an excellent game of Gaelic Football

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
Disappointing we had 5 players pull out on the afternoon of the game. Going to have to assess who we select in the future I think.
On a positive note I thought we showed a bit if fight and weren't disgraced. Thought Zeus did a brillianr job as ref, wish we had him more often.
Yeah shawns brother did well and he is keen to have a run whenever he can, work permiting which will be useful!

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
As anticipated a quality match Friday night between Onkas & W.I For a while there it looked like Onkas were going to run away with it but the goats had a really good opening 15 mins into the wind in the second half. Fortunately for Onkas tho in the dying seconds the unflappable Matt Whitford was able to get the ball, fumble, look the wrong direction before calmly slotting the ball into the back of a defender and over the bar from about 3-4 feet.
Bit of a surprise Port Districts getting done by Irish Australians.
