2011 AFL Draft - Thursday November 24th..

Good work by jimmy sellar. Has put in the hard yards to get redrafted. Craigy had a fair bit in his selection.

Geeze, the first top ten looks alright, but after that it drops off massively.

Most of them look bloody young though, born in the same year as me, didn't even reliase how young they are!

Making you feel old, HOF? I've noticed it in the last couple of years, these huge buggers playing AFL or Test cricket, younger than me, and I'm thinking WTF!

I would have thought that GWS would have gone with Longer, maybe they have some other ruck talent hidden away as going in with Giles and Brogan looks a bit thin.

I know what you mean, I had the same thing back two years ago in the 2009 when all the guys in that draft were the same age as me, it's quite surreal knowing that these guys are the same age or a couple of years younger than you and are going to play in the AFL.

And then to have a brother who could possibly, fingers crossed, be around the mark in two years time is even more surreal.

GWS obviously took a risk that Longer would be around at pick 9. Probably a fair gamble given the Lions have Leunberger. The Lions will now have 2 fairly handy ruckmen for the next 10 or so years.

Yep it's an unusual feeling, just thinking what could of been, if you were good enough etc and what would be running through those blokes heads at the minute, would be the best feeling in the world!

it gets worse as the years go by HOF.

Happy with Bootsma from a Carlton perspective. Can't say I know a heap about him but from what I've read, tall defender. Now I read this:

Josh Bootsma is one of this year’s last minute draft bolters, was up until a few months ago considered a late draft choice if he were to get drafted at all, now all the talk is North Melbourne and Fremantle are very keen to secure his services and he is likely to go in the first 30 picks.

Bootsma is more of a half back flanker than a key position player his height would suggest, sure he can play tall if required but he is much better at ground level and rebounds very well. An AFL comparison which has been made is that he is like Sam Gilbert but he can kick.

Trying to place these last minute hype players is hard, in truth he should get selected after pick 30 but all the whispers indicate he’ll go earlier than that.

Scary part is, he's a half back flanker apparently. And he's 190cm! Crikey I'm old (and short)

As a supporter of <Insert Team Here> I can't believe we got <Insert Players name here> at draft pick <Insert draft pick number here>. I thought he would go much sooner.
<Inser Players name here> is going to be a superstar.

As a supporter of Geelong I can't believe we got Orren Stephenson at draft pick 78. I have never heard of him.
The Big 'O' is going to amount to a big '0'.

Being Geelong our 78th pick will probably turn out better than Ports 6th pick.
Ive never heard of the no 78 but Ive never heard of the about 75 kids picked in front of him either.

In Wells we trust.
There is a more than fair chance that he'll be better than one drafted in front of him that I have heard of - Sellar.

Told you Melbourne would be sorry for hiring Craigy, no doubt his influence to get that dud Sellar. How many more Crows rejects he will chase? Moran must be next on the list

You cant be serious ?? Biggest hack ive ever seen. What a joke it is when a player like this with zero football talent is picked up and Fevola is overlooked.
