SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES
For people in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands and Upper South East districts.
Issued at 4:49 pm Wednesday, 28 September 2011.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds with gusts to 100 km/h in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Renmark, Port Pirie, Clare, Maitland and Murray Bridge.
Large hail is possible with thunderstorms over parts of the warning area on and east of the ranges.
A separate Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds is current for parts of the State to the north and west of this area.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
The next warning is due to be issued by 7:50 pm.
If severe thunderstorms develop in the Adelaide Region, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at http://www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 215. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Severe thunderstorm warning has just been issued for metropolitan Adelaide - due to hit the northern suburbs at about 4:20pm, but looks like the northern and south-eastern suburbs are going to be hardest hit - though the one heading through Clare/upper Barossa appears to be the bigger storm.

Hottest most uncomfortable day up in Darwin I've experienced yesterday. Big storm rolled up to Berrimah then turned south. The pool was warmer than a bath.
