The club has plenty of money buts reluctant to put it to good use.
This is what will hurt Portland jumping the grades "money" you can't expect much when you pay peanuts.
You do get monkeys actually!!

I have heard both Tom and Chris Lipson are on the move to North Haven. I think Freeling (Mark Tylor) tried to entice Tommy out there as well.

I heard this last night, would be very disappointing for Portland to lose him.

He's been going on about playing for Strawberry North or Henley the last couple of weeks haha

I'm not sure they'd be going back to North Haven... SMOSH if anywhere, and even then I won't believe it till I see it.
Sorry if I've missed something, what role is Tylor playing out at Havens?

If I read it correctly Tylor is with Freeling? I thought Greenwood was coaching out there?

I'd doubt that very much, you won't get rich playing at SMOSH if their after $$$$$.

I'm sure Ricky would be asking for some extra $$$$ for recruits but he'll get SFA, not that they don't have it coz they do.
The club needs a clean out as far as the who's who's that dictate & handle the finances down there, geeeeeez their finally out of Div 3 for god sake.
I think if these same people keep getting their own way the club will be back to where it has been for years, Div 3-4.
Thats the problem these people are happy for the club to be sitting there.

So what do you suggest NM, lets spend all the money that we have worked hard for over the years, put the club in debt, bring in some players that will only play for money, get up to Div 1 for one year, then slide into oblivion because there is nothing left. Oh Dear - sounds like a lot of other narrow minded clubs over the years, some of which have recovered, but s..t it takes time. Lets face it NM, a responsible Administration will only pay what the club can afford, year after year and then the club survives. TTG can afford what they are spending this year, I have no idea about SMOSH.

No i'm not saying spend all your money at all. Lets be honest Portland are very tight with their $$$.
I can't see Portland signing any good recruits if the $$$ stays in the vault, no recruits means non competitive.
With that the ones at the club who are content with Div3-4 standard will be happy when the clubs back there & that will be sooner than later.

I think most of the players are aware of the admin being pretty stingey, even though there is a bit of coin saved up... The players probably wouldn't mind playing for less than what they can get, if the club allowed the coach to spend it on attracting some players...they'd be aware as anyone that they need to pick up a few extra hgih quality players to compete in D2.

You hear of people leaving at this time of year every year. Some blokes may train and test the waters elsewhere before the new year. So what, until the have signed or got the clearance done. Thats when you can take the word. Until then its speculation. I understand that there are definate's that are or have left but thats how a club works unfortuneatly. We look forward now and make sure we are competative or even stronger for 2012. If guys run for coin good luck to them. You would find it weird seeing we have come up a division and blokes decide to leave. You never know until you speak to those guys and find out. Me, im realy looking forward to C2, Div 2 in all really and how that pans out and with our new Coaching group bring on 2012

They could be ok, I dont think they played with many points last year and had some under age players.
