Groover wrote:So looking at the Goddard rumour, the 4 way trade would look something like this:
Carlton would gain Brendon Goddard from St.kilda but lose Mclean, Bower, and Lucas
Richmond would gain pick 20 and either Mclean or Lucas but lose pick 14
GWS would gain Bower but lose a draft pick
St kilda would gain pick 14, a GWS draft pick and either Mclean or Lucas while they would lose Brendon Goddard and pick 20

massive trade if it goes ahead.

Unless they get Lucas why would Richmond want to give up pick 14 for pick 20 and Mclean who is finished.

Good. Pick 37 is worth bugger all in this draft. Would rather keep Maric on the list than take that.

Pick 14 for Maric? Crikey, no wonder they're walking out the door down there, they've lost touch with reality!

I don't think he's worth pick 14. I'm just saying I'd rather keep him on the list than trade him for pick 37. He's no star, but he's a ready made servicable ruckman, and they don't grow on trees.

Richmond aren't the only team who need a ruckman, and Adelaide have a week to get the best offer, so I have no problem with their actions so far.

The negotiations on Maric for Richmond's first rounder and Richmond's counter offer of pick 37 is your standard co*k measuring competition that opens up trade week. Adelaide will be extremely happy to get back Richmond's pick in between these two, being the end of first round concession pick on traded to Richmond last year for Tambling (received for Bock). Crows need this to ontrade to St Kilda for Tom Lynch if a 2nd rounder cant get him.

I agree ginger. Is ivans preference to a melbourne based club or just anybody? Brisbane should be interested given their current predicament!

Really hoping the demons can make a play at a big name player (ie goddard) this week, as we have the salary cap room and need for one.
Will be good to see what happens with the Warnock situation.

Exactly. I think he would prefer Melbourne but I think ultimately he's after a No.1 ruck gig. With Brisbane considering coaxing a 33 yr old out of retirement, it's pretty obvious that ruckmen have an inflated value on the market this year. Might as well try and milk the Maric deal for all it's worth I reckon.
