The other factor is if Adelaide trade both Maric & Tippett they would leave themselves horribly exposed in the ruck department. Just can't see it happening to be honest.

Missed most of pre-season because of surgery to a torn pec and missed a chunk of footy during the season because of a torn calf. Will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best with an uninterrupted pre-season under his belt or he may well have jumped the shark.

The Swan rumour is a beauty... another is that Ablett is upset that his brother was only picked up to lure Gary and has now requested a trade back to Geelong.
I would love to see Tippett sent to the Gold Coast for a young forward. Lets be honest he wont be at the crows after next year and he isnt going to win us a flag in that time. Might aswell get Sam Day comfortable and familar with the game plan before we make our next premiership attempt.
Should also send Gunston to Carlton for Pat McCarthy.. Athletic defender 19 years old. Chris Knights and Will Young to Essendon for Monfries. James Seller and a second round pick to North Melbourne for Levi Greenwood. Really need someone to stop the guns carving us up week in, week out.

With Trade Week commencing tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if any deals get done on the first day. If the past is anything to go by, nothing official will probably happen until day 3 or 4.

From a Port perspective I hope Port and the Eagles agree to something very early on.

There are reports that St Kilda have a few salary cap problems, so will be interesting to see if they offer up a few of their leading players such as Goddard.

The first deal to be done will either be Maric to Richmond or Clark to Freo. Both are expected to be reasonably straight forward, ie not involve a 3rd club. I would imagine these will be played out tomorrow but not agreed upon until Tuesday or Wednesday. Once the Clark deal is done, Freo can negotiate with Port on Griffin, and then Port can negotiate with WC on Ebert.

Expect the Gunston trade to drag out, given the demand, Adelaide will be in no hurry to take initial offers.

Trades such as Armstrong to Sydney, Warnock from Melb to wherever, Gillies from Geelong etc. to splatter throughout the week, clubs willing to be more generous in a weaker draft so it shouldnt hold up too many of those 2nd/3rd round type trades.

Depending on what the Blues lose, that would be a massive pick up.

Text says the following,
4 Club deal, Blues giving Lucas, Bower, Mclean and pick 20 to Richmond, they give higher pick back to the saints and Bower goes thru to GWS as part of the deal.
Hutchy to report on this today.

From AdelaideNow:
The Power is lining up Fremantle and former Crows ruckman Jon Griffin and perhaps Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf to be Brogan's replacement at Alberton where lead ruck duties have fallen to the inexperienced Matthew Lobbe.

Our crap list would be nowhere near the cap.
Goddard is apparantly on one of the highest contracts already so when you throw in Judd, Kreuzer, Murphy and Gibbs big salaries there must be a heap of guys getting minimum wage. Maybe Goddard can be an ambassador for Visy aswell ;)

The afl endorsed the Judd deal and it's common knowledge that Carlton got more salary cap to get the deal done. It was payback for the over the top sanctions put against the club in the first place

That said and done Goddard prob won't be traded. We will probably get that Stevens from west coast though

Mitchell (Sydney, Bewick (Bombers) and Bews (Geelong) all non-contested father-sons.
Will be the last pick of each club in the draft.

Re: Trade Week Talk

Postby Groover » Mon Oct 10, 2011 10:54 am

So looking at the Goddard rumour, the 4 way trade would look something like this:
Carlton would gain Brendon Goddard from St.kilda but lose Mclean, Bower, and Lucas
Richmond would gain pick 20 and either Mclean or Lucas but lose pick 14
GWS would gain Bower but lose a draft pick
St kilda would gain pick 14, a GWS draft pick and either Mclean or Lucas while they would lose Brendon Goddard and pick 20

massive trade if it goes ahead.
