This the same Jacobs that didnt play the first 4 weeks for the Crows?

John Reid on Hudson in 2007 -

"We're still in negotiations with Ben's management, they are after three years and we're offering two, but we're still negotiating and we haven't given up," Reid said today.

"The Bulldogs have shown an interest, we're aware of that and discussions will continue.

"We've offered him two years, we don't want to lose him, but he'll start next season at 29-year-old and then the following season at 30, so three years is a bit of a stretch."

If memory serves Jacobs was unavailable for the first 4 rounds this year due to injury so a moot point.

He played 4 JR!!!!

88 games over 4 years for the Bullies, fair to say Crows got that massively wrong.

I was arguing against an extended stay on the bottom of the ladder, nothing more. I stand by my comment - Adelaide is not a team who stays outside the top 8 for long periods of time. Full stop.

Keep hoping Ruben. ;)

Jacobs stats are here http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-a ... sam-jacobs

Also did a Hamstring on Feb 22nd www.dailytelegraph.com.au/...sam-jacobs ... 6010095905

Bad luck about Hudson but if he was here, maybe a future 10 year performer wouldn't have come. Its happened now so not much anyone can do about it.

Easy to sit back once its done and say that though. When looking at the facts 29yo coming off a knee recon asking for 3 years and good coin...... sometimes you have to make a line call! Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Given that he lead the crows in hard ball gets in 2007 I thought it would have been a no-brainer to keep him.

this is actually a good move for Ben Hart if he wants to become a senior coach to get different ideas and opinons from other club to help mould him into hopefully a successfully AFL senior coach.

this is not a other body blow like you have suggested in your quote. In fact many crows fans want people from outside the football club on the New coaching panel.

I just heard Trigg on the radio and he implied that Ben Hart was encouraged to think about his options because the club was keen to free up an assistant coach position.

Now that GF week is over its back to the football. With Ben Hart, well shite happens, he'll only be better for leaving adelaide and getting experiance else where. Also the word dead head is used for him alot. Too much neil craig in him at the moment, needs to get this washed out and be his own person.

Jack Gunston has come out and said he wants to play for Hawthorn.
Personally I don't think he'd get a game in the next two-three years, but Crow fans could be hopeful of something reasonable in return.

Yeah I must admit, when I heard this news this morning I was wondering how he would fit into their forward line. Wouldn't think there would be a hell of a lot of room in there for him.

I'd be interested to see the stats on the success rate of players who haven't established an AFL career yet but are traded because they are homesick. I am sure some have worked out well but I reckon a lot wouldn't have. I reckon there's something missing if they feel they have to move back home in order to play their best footy.

Note: I am excluding cases where there is a genuine need to go back home such as a family illness.

And can the Crows stop squealing like cut pigs about Gunston wanting to go home.

Couldn't recall any squealing from Crows fans last year when Jacobs wanted to leave Carlton to come back home.....

Works both ways.

My first thoughts would be a zippy midfielder in the mould of Savage, Bruest etc... Hawthorn have a lot of young guys who gained great experience in this years finals series with injuries to Hawthorns higher profile players. That would be best case scenario IMO.

Completely different. Jacobs was looking for an opportunity to be the number 1 ruckman, gunstan is simply homesick and taking the easy way out!
