Rob Anderson plays Softball so he is only good for morning games (Bgrade). He is known to go missing during the season. Would be a handy pickup for whoever gets him but they must not lie all their hopes on him.

I think it shows what a progressive place Port Pirie is that grown men can play softball and not be the laughing stock of their community.

Does anyone know if there are any rules about the use of the nets at Port oval?
The sign there says "Clubs SA" bets, so am i right in saying anyone can use them given that Port is a Community Club?

Correct weight there PPLions anyone can and does us the nets.

See people their all the time having a hit and why wouldnt you want to. Its a magnificent facilty put there using mainly money from Ports, a lesser grant from Clubs SA and many many hours of voluntary labour from the SouthPort & Wandearah CC. A credit to them.

You will often see Takka rolling his arm over there, other times the hayes boy, a couple of the strykers boys, risdon lads etc etc but as I understand it though for any organised or club based trainings appoval is needed- Generally the club has sought that they be members or a certain proportion of members as they do with all the other clubs that use Ports facilities.

Perhaps you could clarify for me PPLions the situation with the Lions changerooms at Memorial- what are the rules on who gets to use those when Lions are not? Clubs/public/anyone? Thanks for that

Looking forward to seeing how Risdon back up their highly successful 2010/2011. Premiership in the B's and runner up in the A's- all from a club who is a relatively small player in the competition. Both teams are as closely knit as they come, and the club as a whole is easily the best one to be a part of in the league.

Highly successful? You won a B grade flag! Starting to sound like the bats, but I suppose its all relative. Four clubs won flags last year and Props with the A's flag are the premier club in town.

Risdon though is certainly a great club to be involved in when gator girth dips into the xlotto profits to spring for a few slabs and everyone can sit around having a laugh and a few free beers, great stuff. Mind you though when the beers are gone and starsky asks for a hand rolling the pitch he's left there lonelier than lincoln lawyer lachy at an association meeting when the club fees are due!! Just saw the proposed draw and I see Props are playing in a 20/20 challenge in whyalla on behalf of the PPCA...
Correct me if Im wrong but arent Risdon reigning 20/20 champions of Port Pirie?

And spalding were the year before? The 20/20 comp was the Port cup open to all and not a ppca competition.

Doesnt seem to have been many significant player movements at this stage.
Props still the team to beat in the As at this stage for sure, and probably also in the Bs with the talent in that side. Especially if Craig Oliphant plays a full season.

With 3 standalone teams in the B grade, you need to give that some weight. Teams should endeavour to field an A grade team then a B grade with the others. Not just sit in the B grade. You can excuse Pt Germein because they are mostly kids, and Strykers because they are not much chop, but when a team is losing it's players because they are A grade quality and the club just sits in the B's, you know something isn't right. No wonder the Bats failed last year, with their better players actually playing A grade instead of the old setup they had.

From an internal perspective last season was successful for the RCC. Two teams in the grand finals, the Grewar medallist and the B grade cricketer of the year. I don't see why it wouldn't be regarded as highly successful. Obviously not perfect, but it was something reasonable to build on.

perhaps you 'go the greens' could enlighten us as to why only wandearah and southport get to use the turf on port oval to play on. I know they sponsor wandearah and southport and you will claim that its your home ground but the central hotel sponsors risdon, does that mean only ppl from risdon are allowed to go ther and drink, bet, etc? i suppose all that money that the little old ladies pump into your pokies should just benefit a few ppl not the whole community as the 'port football and COMMUNITY sporting club' name would suggest.

well said AD but i would say that not only from an internal perspective but also in relation to all other CLUBS we had a successful year, in the face of adversity struggling for numbers at the start of the year, all the haters were against us trying to destroy our proud club. 'go the greens' failing to recognise the grewar medal as successful??? failing to acknowledge that the A grade made the grand final for the first time in ages as successful??? then theres is the b grade flag and the b grade player of the year, but judging by your remark at the top there you make it sound like the b grade is just a joke, let me tell you 'go the greens' the b grade is far more competative than the A grade!!! also where does it say that we were claiming to be the 'premier' (your words not mine) club in town? all AD said was that we had a successful year. so keep your smart ass remarks to yourself and worry about bettering which ever club you support this year. unfortunately in cricket you cant throw money around to fix the problem!!
