I wouldn't suggest we will be that good that we will be handing out hidings but just hoping to improve on last season and play finals which is our first goal. Often takes a while for new players to adapt and that's if they stick around and enjoy the game. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully with the extra depth we won't go missing post christmas

Na Fianna have entered a team into the 7s comp. Hoping to turn it into an 8 team comp so we can get a 10 week season out of it again. Good to hear that Flinders are gonna have another crack at it.

Not yet mate just a flier. I believe the comp manager was only finalised yesterday and a few other admin issues should be ironed out over the next week or so. I think start date will be Oct 26th. If it ran on a Wednesday with an 8 team comp, all teams could play each other once with a week for finals and we would be all wrapped up by Dec 14th. Last year it did go for 11 weeks as we came back after Xmas. I guess this would be an option too depending on how keen teams are and how well the comp is going.

I think the idea of keeping it all pre christmas has its merits, could get footy teams back invloved in the sport (like the old GAZA comp) as it wouldnt clash with their pre season much at all....

In other news Flinders are playing the minors in a trial game this Sunday 2pm down at Bailey Reserve...will let the forum know the results only if we win!

Neville Bartoss wrote:Developed a couple of different sources of attracting players....won't drop any names although we have approx 7-8 players from a very successful div 1 a grade side including their leading goal kicker, former afl listed player and amateur all Australian player....

Also picked up a div 1 amateur goal keeper and some quality players returning to the club.

Still in talks with a disgruntled player from another club. We r not ones to try and poach players from other clubs but don't want someone of his calibre wasted.

Any other clubs care to share their off season recruiting?

Im gonna take Gaza for a $100 :D . AFL listed player would be Bennet Copping, Big Mick Kerr would be in there somewhere and i reckon their leading goalkicker was Brad Horsenell. The All Australian could be Radetti, Merret, Haythorpe or someone alse of immense quality. The pedigree and potential of these players would be phenomenal 8) the real challenge will be in keeping them playing each week and with Gazas pre season starting in early Nov (assuming its Gaza) it will be hard to have the same team each week. Several of these boys are also enthusiatic on the footy field to say the least and would need to curb said enthusiasm

SHOC are affiliated with the Goats, No-body likes Goodwood, Henley players wont be realeased for Gaelic so apart from Gaza the only other team from the SAAFL that finished in the 5 it could be is Gepps X, home of the great Teena Stirling. If its Gepps the comp could well be joined by some guns like Brodie Hudson, Alex stengle, dave Allocaand the FFi think its Woodrow or something similar.

either way it sounds like you might have some very handy additions

Thanks Nev....of course if you tune into The GrassRoots Footy show tonight at 8.30pm on Channel 44 (replayed on Sat morning at 10.30am) you can see me interviewing Gazas coach and discussing several of the aforementioned players as well Western Irelands own Jack Horan (Coach of SHOC) is on the show. Co-host and Norwood legend Garry McIntosh has also expressed an interest in playing some games over summer  and keeping a close eye on the 12-15 blokes from PNU who will be kitting up for Na Fianna this year.

So my 'copping' a hiding reference was correct too. Nev, there wasn't too many other ways I could put Copping in a relevent sentance!
I think the All Australian listed player would be the guy who was named in this years side. With Radetti's links to the Na Fianna guys I doubt he wouldn't show love to everyones idol The Nick Jolly! :D
Good to see the competition strengthen!
Na Fianna 7's, love the idea... Although, with the potential coach of that 7's side named, seems we're scraping the bottom of the barrel!!! ;)

The Coach will be closely minitored and with the likes of "Dicky" Jones, ""Sweaty Balls" Swaine, "Fingers" Duurland, The Hammer and Stevey "If shes breathing i,ll hump her" Dear  as well as the possible encore performance of Damien "Moose" Emery roaming round in the 7s comp the coach might be a very busy man.
Just one correction Milky....Its Nick "The Situation" Jolly as heard on 100.5 WOWFM Saturday Gameday at 10.30 every Saturday  Im all plugged out now.

Haha we are playing this game then....

Zammit I hope they all end up playing most games, will be very useful additions, just hope they don't burns the ball too much and kerr their overenthuiastic ways. If they stay after Christie they hopefully we won't be copping the same hidings we did last year and get the freddo frog at the end of the season. Horsnell. That is all

If the Gaelic Webmaster (who has recently moved house) can ever find what box he packed his laptop power cord away in, this flier may actually appear on the gaelic website at some stage... this flier was in fact been sent to a host of SAAFL and SFL clubs last week, as well as a stack of soccer clubs as well. Hopefully this generates some more teams and a buzzing Gaelic7s comp!

Our trial match against the state minors was called off by the minors coach because they believed the team was "not ready" for a match and needed to work on their skills by doing drills....

With just over two weeks till the carnival you would think they would be ready to play a game???

On a positive note we have a match next Monday against the state men's side, thanks to milsey for being so helpful in making this happen, just hope they don't make us look too stupid :)
