Understanding your system, BG, and giving full credit for what you are doing, but if Gary Ablett only polls seven votes, then there is something drastically wrong with the voting this year.

Ablett has had a great year IMO and the results of the game should not factor into voting, if the umpires look beyond the result and adjudge the best players on performance I reckon GAZ can sneak a top 3 finish

The last round of voting may be interesting. Pendlebury, Swan, Judd, Murphy all won't poll. Adam Goodes near certain 2 or 3 against Brisbane. Personally, don't see Cox polling against Adelaide, but some outlets had him top 3.

Hmm. Murphy with 36 touches might snare a vote

I'd be really surprised. Kade Simpson should be the only Carlton player to get votes, and that is most likely the 3.

Priddis is not a noted votegetter, apart from 2010. Career total of 34 votes, best season in 2010 with 13.

Chris Judd will start the favorite tonight, but Adam Goodes heavily supported, and likely to start second favorite. If Judd can open with 5+ votes in the opening 5 rounds, he will be really hard to catch. Conceivably, he could have 2 or less in that period, and a very quiet last month also.

Think that Adelaide's Scott Thompson may surprise for a top 5 finish. Very few Crows to take votes from him and while they had plenty of losses, some of his numbers in narrow defeats may be hard to ignore, particularly for a noted votegetter in past seasons.

Priddis is not a noted votegetter, apart from 2010. Career total of 34 votes, best season in 2010 with 13.

He polled well last year and expect more of the same this year. Better year this year IMO

And on the back of that there has been good money for both Boyd and Goodes seen on Betfair.
Judd is proving very soft in the trade, out from 1.90 range 5 days ago to 2.14 this morning.

Chris Judd is the best chance, and with respect to Mr Brownlow himself, I have been referring to this as the Juddlow. Regardless of sportsbet, afl.com, cousin Gerald at the local, or whomever, Judd has had the best season, he's a known votegetter (check out his 2010), and very simply it isn't worth putting money on him.

For one of the best players in the history of AFL football, there is very little fuss or fanfare made about Adam Goodes. Another ripper year, and he would be considered better than Judd, Swan or Ablett if he was playing for a Victorian team. He really can play anywhere, literally. Forward, back, mids, Ruck, he can do it all. That versatility will see him a good chance to topple Goliath Judd.

And because I can't help myself but to be a tool, I will drop a smokey in there...
It is possible to burst out of the blocks at a rapid rate. Get a huge lead, and then miss games. During your sabbatical, other fancies move to the fore in the viewer's eyes, as it is easy to forget the early rounds of the season, when Judd comes home with a wet sail... The commentator's too, forget, but for the odd mention of "a good start to the season, curtailed by injury," and they ignore the fact that the umpires purely pick the best three on any given day... Therefore don't be shocked if the Juddlow is determined by whether or not Chris Judd can catch the quick start of Jobe Watson.

Agreed. Watson will definitely poll well early particularly given Essendon's prominent start to the season.
Matthew Boyd is another who comes home strongly and could challenge Judd.
But, like you say, Judd is just about unbackable.

Wrong REB. It's an individual award, not a team award. If a player from a losing side is bog, then he deserves 3 votes.
