Just on that one, as gutless as it was and as much as I disliked Roger Luders it was a real strange one.
Riley only seemed to glance Luders on the way through (with his elbow though), it wasn't like it was a full on hit that sent them in opposite directions.
Luders was never the same after that.

REB mate! I guess you tongue is firmly in your cheek. The reason that they were both at the same end was Central were out first and chose the southern end and when Norwood arrived for some reason they couldn't find their way to the northern end. I don't suppose it could have been premediatated could it? Just a coincidence that Gilbert had won the Magarey the year before I suppose? Silly of him to pick on 6 Norwood players at once wasn't it?

I wasn't denying that, just found it amazing that what seemed like such a small tickle broke a blokes jaw so comprehensively, didn't look much worse on TV either.
The Sims hit on Simpson was sickening though.
Having seen those 2 incidents you'd think Westies would have learnt by the 2004 Elim Final that roughing up North to put them off their game isn't a good idea.
Obviously not though! Poor old Doug would have nightmares about it! lol

I understand what you're saying, Wedgie, but I was only 20 or 30 metres away and it didn't seem like a glancing blow at the time to me. I'm not arguing the point, though.
As far as the 2004 final goes, I can't remember much more aggro than most matches, although North supporters get a bit sensitive about such things.
I can remember a North player (Roe?) giving away two free kicks before the 1st and 3rd quarter started by having a crack at a poor, innocent West player each time. I think we kicked a goal from one before the first bounce.

Wish we could play those thugs every finals game!

Drebin, I thought you were better than that surely you can think of a better tough footy analogy than that, whacking blokes ain't tough, it is soft.
Footy Tough is keeping your head over the ball Timmy Ginevar/Chris McDermott/David Tiller/Tim Weatherhald styles knowing you are going to get hit but you keep going regardless.
