That's a "view of the season". Based on a feeling and interpretation on the season as a whole.

Which, isn't the Brownlow.

Never subscribed to the "stealing of votes"

If you're the best player on the ground, you're the best player on the ground.
Occasionally, maybe you get 2 rather than 3 if it's close with another dominant player.

Flawed anyway. 42 players on a field, and only 3 get votes.

Much like them not giving Ablett the votes in i think it was 08 and he was a smoking hot $1.somethin fave and didnt poll well but in 09 a clearly inferior year for him he sh#t it in :? I expect to see something similar for Swanny as they compensate for last years farce and i wont be suprised to see him poll as many if not more than last year despite a clearly inferior season  . In the last 10 years i have had good $$$ on 2 winners. Simon Black ($12,s) and the Coon Dog ($16,s). My point is....if you like a dabble, shop amongst the $10-$20 range and you might be pleasently suprised.

Yep agree with the $10 - $20 range options. Had $50 on Bartel when he won @ 10/1 (which I backed on the day) and I had $20 on Judd last year @ 26/1 when Swan was a short-priced fav.....

Hhmmm. I can't comment. I didn't see all of collingwoods games. Maybe he did but Judd is in a calibre of his own. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea

Crap.

Maybe about the no idea, but Judd's win was well deserved

I don't think anybody doubts Judd is a once-in-a-generation talent, and this year it will be a disgrace if he does not win.

2010 however, he was not a pimple on the arse of Dane Swan.

Probably depends on how people (inc umpires) view it bud .. Dont think there's much doubt that Swan was the most effective player in 2010 - He's not the type that regularly dazzles with skill as say an Ablett, Judd, Goodes, Pendelbury etc does though (IMHO).

If the umps stick stringently to the award's criteria of "most brilliant" it makes it tough for the workmenlike blokes that continually deliver.

Judd's a deadset superstar he deserved the brownlow last year and again this year if he happens to prevail. Umpires don't have the beauty of watching full coverage, replays and stats of the game like we do and umpires are also football fans and the way he smashes in and picks up his side when needed is very eyecatching and appealing to the common fan and I can see why he get's the votes over someone who may have had 40 odd seagull possessions.

And besides nothing new here, it's been happening since the under 11's, some players just stand out more than others and will continue to for another 100 years, when we'll see the 32nd AFL franchise The Christmas Island Fugee's enter the competition

Judd no certainty to pick up votes today, despite already having 30+ disposals. Gibbs and Murphy very damaging, plus 3 frees against (none for) for Judd so far, while Betts already has six goals.

I saw Juddy touch the ball friday night, perhaps just the 2 votes though v Hawthorn ;) ....Every one on this thread seems convinced that the Brownlow is a foregone conclusion. I honestly believe the martians will leave you all scratching your heads when the brownlow is won by either Swan, Pendles, Cox, Del Santo, Priddis or most likely Goodes  . I have followed the brownlow very closely for years and one consistent theme has reigned true, the deserved winner is rarely rewarded. Last year Judd love really cost me a lot of $ and i think he really will have to work hard for his votes this year.
I,ll be chucking a couple of loose red notes on Goodes. Another much loved umpire fave. Not trying to disrespect either footballer as they are both beyond brilliant but their name and rep has at times gained them votes when others have perhaps played better. If you can get double figure odds on the Goodes train, back it in as he doesnt have eye catching, vote stealing team mates  .

Be interesting to see if he gets a vote for his 15 touches against the Hawks ;)

Did see that Thompson had 51 touches today against the Suns, ill keep an eye out to see if he gets the votes or if the umps saw something differant
