Interesting comment on Friday night footy, when, I think it was the Freo young ruckman took a grab I said to Junior Boon "Another specky.! The specky is making a come back. I wonder when people will just dob it forward again?" -- So I go into explaining what a "dob" was only to hear Cometti say "The specky is back!"...

Rohan Connolly's top 10 marks of all time

Postby The Sleeping Giant » Mon Aug 08, 2011 1:16 pm

I don't care what anyone says, the greatest mark I have seen, or will ever see was by Leo Barry in the dying seconds of the 2005 GF.

Yeah that one's definitely up there, particularly given the context.
I reckon I'd rather take a mark like that than kick the winning goal of a GF.

My favourite Ablett mark was one he took against Melbourne I think it was during the 1989 finals series. He climbed into the pack and there were Demons everywhere but guess who came down with the ball.

Walker LMAO.

Great grab! Had about 6-7 goes at it and still nobody from the dees could lay a finger on it

I think it was that same game when he took that one hander playing on rod grinter?

Rod goes back on the mark and all he could do was laugh the poor bugger!

Ablett was at his absolute peak that year. Despite the Coleman's and double figure bags later on in his career it was 1989 that he was at his best. Unfortunately, Hawthorn were just a bit too good. That 89 side for the Hawks is still one of the best teams I've ever seen they were awesome.

Nick Duigan took a mark against the Roos back with the flight with Petrie coming the other way, which I rate higher then Walkers.

Have spoken to a mate who was at the Carlton v Essendon game, and he said the TV replays don't do Walkers mark justice, but seeing it live was just incredible.....

Matty Lappin against Essendon a while ago was a cracker.

I think Jesaulenko's mark is a little over rated, perhaps because it was one of the first great marks recorded on film.

I'm not a big fan of Silvagni, but his mark against Collingwood a few years ago was quite memorable.

Walker 11, Burton 09, silvagni 88, goddards last years gf, roach 79, febeys in a state of origin was a cracker, a number of barkers, winmar, bosustow 81, moorcroft 01.

Walkers mark was massive. As said elsewhere the tv doesn't do it justice. Photos show just how high he was. Friends at the game said it was unbelievable. The crowd reaction of both his and moorcrofts are an indication of just how big these marks are. These 2 are my favorites.

That SOS one was massive. One of my favourite Cat ones of recent times was Otto against Sydney in 2006. We were copping a towelling but the Big Otto climbed into a big mark YOU BEWDY.

IMHO would have Brett Allison's mark from the early '90's in the top 10

Remember Drew Morphett almost going throught the threshold of pain with his description - "oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Allison!"
