What was Bell thinking

Saw it on the News tonight, I'm 50/50 as to whether it was bad sportsmanship on India's behalf to initially claim the run out.

Here’s my take on it. Technically, Bell was indeed out. However in the spirit of the game, you can’t give him out because of the way the fielder reacted. He himself thought it was four, he walked over to collect the ball and he half heartedly threw the ball in. That in no way suggests that he thought the ball was ‘live’, he, along with the batsmen, the crowd, the rest of his teammates, thought it was four and it was tea. If he'd sprinted back to the ball, threw it full pelt back to Dhoni and Bell was still off with the fairies, then yep you're out son, but in this instance, I think you can't give him out.

I love people bashing Cook, I think the stat was that he equalled the number of centuries Bradman had scored at a certain age (21 IIRC).

Strauss and Cook- the best opening combo in the world.
Trott- the best number three in the world.
KP, Bell- very good middle order, even if Bell looks like a rat.
Number six is their only problem, I don't think Morgan is up to the task, but this is where they can play a Dexter or Compton (yes two very familiar olden names I know, but performing county wise).
Prior- all the bashers are gone now, and rightly so.
Bresnan, Broad and Anderson are now a world class pace attack, with Swann as the spinner.
And they virtually bat right down to Anderson.

Cook is not that good, look what happens when he faces competant bowlers that swing the ball,he is just notg that good. None of the Aussie bowlers could swing a swingking ball in the Ashes.

Trott no, others have been doing it consistently for longer.

Nannes has not played test cricket though. Granted the other two have but I'm pretty sure they didn't come over t the age of 20 or there abouts like the 'english' players

It also probably needs to be taken into account that Prior moved to England when 11 and Strauss when 6. Trott's family was also English, with two of his forebears representing England in test matches. As Ireland do not play test cricket, who else would Morgan play for?

Not sure I agree with you there LM, our Shield cricket would still be the best domestic comp in world cricket, it's just we don't have the absolute stars that perform at Test level at the moment. You have to remember we have just come through an era of 15 years, where we have had some of the all time greats of not only Aus cricket play, but arguable world cricket, I would probably put 4 into that category for an all time world 11. Ponting, Warne, Gilly & Pidge, think only Warnie and Gilly would make starting 11, but other two would be in 2nd 11.
I think we are jus p.....d off that we are in a poor era of Aust Test Cricket, with at the moment little to give us hope for the future, which unfortunately coincides with the best English Test team since probably late 60's.
AND Cricket Aus have decided that playing lots of 20/20 will help us regain us Test status. Oh well.

A few things, Australian Cricket will get back to its best in the futre. However its very likely it will be a Mitch Marsh let team that features names like Maddison, Copland, Keath probably Lyon or something like that for example. Thats only an example not my future predictions. the Crystal ball is a bit cloudy these days.

I do have a question though. Why is Pidge not the ******* bowling coach. Seriously, why not?

AS for the Bell run out well, true not in the spirit of the game, but for **** sakes if your doing stuipd things and not concentrating then geeeez get real.

And on England. They are a well balanced side. Solid openers, Decent middle order, and a set of bowlers you can throw the ball to and get something from them at least.
