Postby Footy Smart » Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:35 pm

Well looking forward to heading down after work.

Changes for this week?

T Walker, B Smith, B Martin, A Reilly, R Henderson should come into consideration.

Out Callinan and Douglas

I think Walker would have come back in if he wasnt suspended for a good tackle!

I would love to see A. Reily given a game, the kid can play!

Brodie Martin also would have to be inline for a recall!

Agree, I think Martin needs another run in the A's before the end of the year.

Not sure who else I'd bring in for the two omissions. I guess Walker if he's available, otherwise perhaps Henderson should come back into the side.

Looking forward to heading along to the game Friday night. Gonna take the day off work and get there early and have a few beers. Reckon we're a chance if we play with the same effort as the last game. That's a big 'if' this year though.

Crows are challenging Walkers suspension.

Id like to see the side line up like this:

B: Johncock, Rutten, Doughty
HB: Tambling, Talia, Jaensch
C: Martin/Smith , S. Thompson, Mckay
HF: Petrenko ,Tippett, Henderson
F: Wright, Walker, Sloane
R: Jacobs, Dangerfield, Van Berlo
I/c (from): Smith/Martin, A. Riley, B. Reilly

Essendon might play the 3 ruckman again and test our backlines height!

Big job for sauce this week against some quality ruckman!

I was speaking with an Assistant at Sturt yesterday regarding Brodie Martin, feedback he gave was that Brodie gets huge amounts of ball but turns it over more often than not and has the coaching box cringes everytime he has it in his hands......
Interesting feedback I thought as he seems quite clean at the crows.

Johncock and Jaensch combined for 24 disposals at 91% efficiency and 3 goals in 3 quarters. They play out the game, we win, simple.

However obviously the players out there needed to stand up, and again they didn't, most turned to water and watched the momentum turn and did nothing to change it.

I think that's because at the moment most of them don't have the experience to know how, simple as that.

Well dissapointing to drop a 6 goal lead but leading by 6 goals in the second qtr means nothing in todays football, esspecially with a young side. At half time i said to my bro, we must hold off their comeback! Unfortunately we couldnt match/counter what they threw at us. Loosing Stiffy and Jeansch was the catalyst. They were all over the unnacountable small FWDs of Essendon. The effort and intensity was there for 4 qtrs we just didnt put them to the sword when we were well on top!

Positives
Petrenko - cant believe he isnt in the votes thread more
Talia - Thought he shows some good signs, needs to tidy up his disposal a bit
Jacobs - Best effort around the ground we have had by a ruckman for a long time, needs to work on his hits to advantage
Sloane - was busy as usual
Johncock/Jeansch the way were working together was fantastic
Tambling - Thought it was his best game for the club, 3 errors but did some ripper tackles and worked hard

Negatives
Thompson - 37 possies at 57% efficiency  - but been very good all year so cant really have a go at him
Reilly, Doughty, Van Berlo - these 3 were our 3 worst players on the ground by an absolute country mile
Brad Moran -
Our FWD Structure - once again we lacked structure up there, we went inside 50 terribly and hopefully Walker should be back this week
Midfield - why we give up front position and try and push our players undr the ball is beyond me, it means we are flat footed and anything short of the perfect bounce we are stuffed. Campo, you have to go!

Moving Forward
Aiden Reilly, Brodie Martin, Taylor Walker must play the rest of the season and Doughty and Brent Reilly removed!

Scott Thompson needs to realise he is a senior player at the club and get rid of the silly free kicks he gives away. Honestly rubbing your forearm/ elbow in someones face at a stoppage is just ridiculous!
And disposing at 57% is why I call him clangers. Very good player but, would be considered elite if he tidies things up a bit.

I actually thought Brad Moran was a positive. Rucked very well against 2 of the best ruckmen in the league and when moved forward gave us something. Should have held more marks but that will come with confidence. Could easily have kicked 4 or 5 with a bit of luck. Something to work with anyway.
