Will be interesting how the 'Pies approach this next Cup game. Sitting in the 5 at the moment we now have to weigh up how we approach the Foxtel Cup as w will soon be looking at about 13 or 14 games ( spelly ? ) without a bye / weekend off.

East Perth v Williamstown at Ethihad on Fox1 tomorrow 4:30pm
Williamstown have named 14 Western Bulldogs to play including Will Minson, Mitch Hahn and youngster Tom Liberatore. Id expect Willy to win by 10 goals.
Reckon my money is looking good, they should win the comp easily

Not enough :(
At the start of the comp I put $200 on at $5.
Did hear afterwards that a couple of agencies were offering $5.50

Don't write Claremont off yet. Every one thought the Bullants would win easy against them but that was not to be.

Willy might be full of WB players but do they play like a team and do they hurt for the Willy jumper like the AFL listed Claremont players. Remember the AFL listed Claremont players were Claremont players to begin with and they want to win for the jumper

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

This is a myth of course. People don't play differently because of a jumper. Otherwise why don't we see teams play poorly when they play in any special even jumper? Or away jumpers. "playing for the jumper" is just a footballer's way of understanding when they switch on their focus. You put the jumper on, it's time to focus purely on the game until it comes off again. Just like an actor will focus when he's in costume as being "in character". It's actually if anything belittling to the other players, coaching staff, supporters and the player themselves that people (players included) think it's all for an article of clothing. It's for your pride, sense of competition and the people emotionally involved in your performance that drives you. AFL listed players will generally get into their zone when playing in a state league so I'd anticipate few issues with those bulldogs
players.

Williamstown touched East Perth up by 71pts. The Royals only scored 4 goals for the match.

Where are East Perth on the WAFL ladder cos the winner of Weat v Williamstown will smash them if its not played in Perth.
- I thought they were crap and only had about 5 players with any skill  [/quote]

Watched Williamstown touch up a lowly ranked WAFL side on FOX and couldn't help feel a bit underwhelmed with the SANFL teams that are in the comp. Would love to see a fair dinkum game between Williamstown and a full strength Centrals or Norwood side. I understand why they are not in it, and I would have made the same decision myself, but still couldn't help wondering what if?

Might have helped if the 3 competing SANFL clubs had played anywhere near their best line-ups too and not had 2 of them drawn against each other in the second round of the comp? Surely Port will play as close as it can to a full strength side this time around?

No they wont. Watch Port rest the good players. They are right in finals mix and that would mean a fair bit more than the Foxtel cup.

Good to read an informed opinion. Obviously you have a crystal ball or are on the inner sanctum down at Alberton.

With such an even spread of quality players across the League and Reserves sides, I reckon it'll be a very good Port side traveling to Perth.

I expect Port to keep ( at least for one week ) using this as a tool to help build our league team of the future and as such expect a few regular older players to stay at home this week....or go to Perth on the sauce and watch the other lads play.

Port were in the finals mix against North but still fielded a full strength side. Would be a strange move to not be trying to win the cup now.
