Brogan Pulls the Pin

Postby Rik E Boy » Tue Jun 28, 2011 4:23 pm

Port Ruckman Dean Brogan has announced that this year will be his last.

He's never really been a favourite of mine but I have admired his leadership efforts in what has been a testing season for Port.

So long Stan Smith, Roger Ramjet, Jay Leno, Quagmire. You truly had the biggest chin to play the game of Aussie rules.

In a similar way to Chad Cornes, you'd love this bloke if he played in your guernsey.

Brogan had the benefit after moving from the NBL to play along side ( and learn from ) Matthew Primus and Brendan Lade. Port being blessed with our ruck stocks at the time. He certainly learnt a thing or two.

Been a pleasure to watch Broges play, very few played with the passion he does and love him or loathe him you cant question the courage and endeavour he showed on the ground. With our thin ruck stocks, he will be sorely missed. If only we had 22 blokes take to the field with the fire in the belly Broges has.

Well played Broges, well played.NBL and AFL Premiership player.

One of those players that always helped his teammates walk taller and lead by example .. When he first started out I wouldn't have given him any chance of forging half the career he has, so kudo's to the big man.

He probably feels the same way about you too.

The Power aint my side but i take my hat off to him, its not easy being in the lime light.
I think he's done a great job coming from basketball to football & its sooooo easy to judge people on one mistake & when you've never played at that level to understand what players like him have to put up with in the public eye.
I never saw or heard of him making continuous f..k ups like Fevola.

One incident a few years back, and he's apparently the biggest dick in the world? No.

Everyone makes a balls up or two, just like No Mercy said, look at Fev.

Stupid thing to do, should know better being in the public eye, but should not define him.

Lionhearted ruck who carried a crappy side in recent times, played at the elite level in two sports, which takes a special kind of dedication.

Well done Chin.

Talking about personal experience not anything reported in the media. Yes the the incident mentioned was poor but not what im about. I'm not broadcasting the issue that I'm alluding to but will pm it to those interested. As I said poor form and demonstrated that day an arrogant person to the highest order

I met him 2 years back and thought he was quite a nice bloke, was also excellent with the kids at a clinic I was at.

When he comes back from injury will they still play Lobbe in tandem?

LMAO - Dale Mortimer.

I've got a feeling footballers all over the country would have chipped in to pay any fine Broges received from that incident.

  well played!

Congrats on a great career broges. Like has been mentioned, wears his heart on his sleeve and plays with passion, a memo the rest of the power squad should take note of.

Tough to win a premiership / championship in one professional sport, let alone two. Well played mate!
