Essendon Season 2011

Talk on the national game

The Heat will be on Essendon because as far as fans go there isn't a bigger bunch of whiners in the league. Why do you think they got big ears in for? Last year you would hear the tears everytime a decision went against you. It's been a long time since Matty Lloyd became Australia's first Olympic Diving Gold Medallist or oh to the glory days of Gavin Limboneen!

The fans stayed away in droves last year and it was the Albino's head that ended up on the pike. Now that the EFC has spent the equivalent of a third world county's national debt stealing our jaded old coach when you should have snaffled Stevie Wells or at least someone who could actually play I'd say the heat would be well and truly on if the Bombres (love that cheer squad of yours!) squandered this year's 'flying start'. Won't be long before those wonky wheels on the bandwagon really start wobbling and the pea hearted fans jump off agin.

Essendon - the new Melbourne!

Bit harsh with the pea hearted supporters jibe. Every club has its fair share of fair weather supporters even your beloved cats. I know many bomber supporters like myself who fork out thousands a year on memberships and travel interstate a dozen times a season. Hirdy is doin ok and we are heading in right direction, its not going to be an instant turnaround but we will get back to our rightfull position. We do have a heap of whiners but that comes with the territory of being the equal most successful team in the comp. Our fans have been spoilt for success and now they need to chill and wait out the hard times. Could be a lot worse, ive seen my side win 4 flags, not many people my age can say that.

That's right every club DOES have them except your mob have more. Even Carlton supporters are less fickle than your mob. The Richmond ferals might come close but after two decades of carp that's fair enough. Your blokes made the finals two years ago and you were all moaning like stuck pigs. Every neutral fan who watched an Essendon match could not have failed to miss the moaning and wailing whenever a free kick went against you. The way the club and it's fans treated Matthew Knights was an absolute disgrace and ditto for the way the fans treat Stanton.

Shame Bombers Shame. You are now about to run over by the Karma bus but I'm sure you'll always get an 'honest' assessment from blokes like Mark Thompson LOL.

Agreed its a disgrace how Stanton gets treated by the fans but Knights can get f****d, he was a joker that shouldnt have got the job in the first place. Good riddance to him.

What his coaching record speaks for itself. Got ran out of Port Adelaide, took our ressies to bottom and then gets the top job. There was a heap of decent applicants out there yet the club went for the knee jerk reaction and quickly appointed him, it was always going to end in tears

Yeah can see us only winning 2 or 3 of our remaining games, that would mean that the SA and QLD sides need to win 6 of their last 9 games, aint gunna happen. We will finish between 8-10 which is where most people picked us to finish. Need alot to go right to finish in 8, just cant see it happening with the draw we have remaining

Geelong never - NEVER - had it so good than when it was coached by ex-Essendon captain Mark Thompson. To read the vitriol coming from Geelong fans on here is akin to Essendon supporters taking the iss out of Kevin Sheedy because of his Richmond roots. Anyway, who really cares? Essendon is a champion club with a beautiful guernsey and 16 premierships in the cabinet. Only Carlton can match this record

16 I think. Check the records. Its about Australian Rules Football premierships that are played on the MCG - the recognised HQ and/or historic venue of the final game of the year at the sports highest level. Essendon has won it 15 times. The very first title was awarded in 1897 to the side which won the most home and away games and guess who that was? Essendon of course. We are the most traditional and successful club in the history of the game. No one can match so sqwark all you like...
