Round 14 - CRUNCH TIME!

Postby Rik E Boy » Tue Jun 21, 2011 1:27 pm

It's a massive round this week with a number of crucial games coming up.

Hawthorn vs. Essendon

Hawthorn are winning matches but fair dinkum that was a team of midgets out there against Gold Cost last week and now they've lost Buddy as well. Essendon coming off four straight Ls need to find something and I reckon they might be able to do so against the weakened Hawks. If the Hawks can win this they are top four certs but if they get done then the door is ajar for believe it or not...the Eagles!

Melbourne vs. Richmond

The winner of this critical match can be considered a contender but the loser will be labelled a pretender. The winner might make the eight but it would be pretty hard to make a case for the loser I would have thought. I watched On the Slouch last night and surprisingly, the Melbourne midfield stats compare favourably with Richmond's (Clearances, Contested footy) and with Jamar back it might be the time for the Demons to get off the merry go round. Also the Tiges have had three straight road matches and perhaps this might result in a slight mental drop off. The biggest match for both clubs for many years I would suggest.

Carlton vs. West Coast

Unlike Carlton, Hawthorn and Collingwood, my mob have to go West to play the Eagles !@#$%!!! West Coast are probably very even with Sydney but since the Swans rolled the Eags in the West the Eagles appear to have improved but you can't say that about Sydney who have played to a fairly consistent level for mine. Carlton are on fire but haven't really beaten anyone yet but you could say the same for the Eags. The Blues' home ground advantage is important here but West Coast go all right in midfield and can match the output of Kruezer and Warnock if he plays. Carlton probably can't lose top four but West Coast could stake strong claims here if they can get up.

Hardly. Everyone knows that the Swans can't beat the top four teams. Even the Swans know that.

Good summary mate.

Definitely a big game for my mob. If we can get up over the dees, who have had the wood over us for a while, it would be huge. The win in Brisbane was a great win. Yeah Brisbane are struggling, but coming off a six day break, a 10 hour bus trip from sydney to melbourne, and then flying out earlier then expected to brisbane, to run over them like we did was a confidence boosting win. This is a must win, along with the essendon game in 2 weeks times. Win both of those and we should make the 8 i feel

If the Swans can't beat Collingwood this week, they'll be just making up the numbers in September, if they aren't already. CRUNCH GAME.

The swans have given up a huge home ground advantage for a few extra dollars. Reckon they would have a decent chance at SCG but Collingwood have a great record at ANZ, would be interesting to see how many more they actually attract to ANZ, wouldnt think ot would be alot more

geelong v Adelaide - is arguably the match of the round and the crunch could fall in Craig if they suffer a bad loss - or can craigys crows stop the cats and crunch them back to earth???

there are so many question and so little answers

Sydney v Collingwood at Homebush has been a winner financially. Holds the record for the biggest crowd outside of Melbourne. Last time the Swans won at Homebush, was in 2005.

StIll reckon North will pinch the last spot in 8. Essendon, richmond and melbourne to fight for 9,10,11

North have hit form for sure. They are probably the main danger to essendon and free. TBH I think free and essendon will miss out (freo will win the next games, but still have Carlton, collingwood and hawks at home). Every chance to miss out
