Match Review Panel - Round 12

Postby CK » Mon Jun 13, 2011 8:47 pm

The biggest news is that one of the leading Brownlow Medal favorites, Geelong's Joel Selwood, faces a three match ban for striking Hawthorn's Brent Guerra after Saturday night's game.

The footage is at about the 0.48 mark. Guerra suffered a perforated eardrum as a result. You will have to look very carefully at the top right hand corner of the screen, it is taken from a considerable distance:

Call me biased, but I'd need better vision than that to rub him out.

No way was Selwood suspended on that evidence. More to do with Brent Gurera's evidence.

I'd say he is trouble if already assessed a three week ban. Geelong will have difficulty appealing this one

The 400+ points can easily be accounted for with the Hawthorn doctors report!

No doubting that Guerra got some of his own back and selwood was unlucky to be captured on camera.

I really hope Selwood uses the Daisy Thomas "I thought it was the ball" defence.

Memo to Joel Selwood. Next time just punch him in the face....you'll only get a week.
