Interesting betting market.
Game 1
Miami 1.45
Dallas 2.75
Champions
Miami 1.50
Dallas 2.60
Most people have gone for Miami in 6, that is paying 4.50
MVP
LeBron 2.25
Dirk 2.75
Wade 5.00

Rip Hamilton is a rumour floating around the ESPN Chicago site. Who else would we be keen on?

Rip would be good in Chicago.
Out of favour in Detroit.
Send over two players and some cash.
Maybe Bogans and someone else.

We (OKC) need someone like (god forbid) Shawn Marion.
Experienced small or power forward.

Dwight Howard. Trade Noah and Boozer if you have to.

The free agent list for 2011 is pretty thin, 2012 looks better. Chicago are most likely to run with the same guys again and maybe change the order the blokes on the bench sit in, then get active in 2012 if things don't improve again next season.

Interesting quote popped up the other day around the traps in the NBA.

Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far as to say that LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game.

Seems they media are starting to really get behind James now.

Saw that on ESPN.

Here's a good article regarding that quote, and the concept.

It's a hard and weird comparison.

I think LeBron is unbelievable.

I think Michael is in the top three "natural basketballers" ever.

But, I don't think LeBron is even in the top 5 "natural basketballers" in the league, right now. Wade is, though.

LeBron's brilliance comes with his physical attributes IMHO. That's where he excels. He wasn't (isn't) a natural shooter and has had to work on that over time. His post game is getting better, but still isn't up with the best. He uses brute force, and strength, to hold the ball when bumped, and roll shots in. If he wasn't as strong, he wouldn't be as good where as most players wouldn't lose much ability if they lost some strength.

And christ, I wish he would LEAN a little when dunking! It would look so much better.

Actually I wouldn't put LeBron in the top 10 in the league right now, when it comes to being a natural basketballer.

Edit: Same as Dwight.

If you saw Jordan in his prime you can't compare LeBron to him.

The nub of the story was just Pippen being Pippen.

I have the Bulls dynasty dvd and on Sunday I watched his flu game against the Jazz in game 5 when the Jazz had the momentum after easily beating the Bulls in Salt lake the previous 2. Jordan was visibly sick and still dropped something like 34 or 37. He was awesome and his shot looked just so natural it was scary once he jumped to release.

ahhahahahahah that is laughable . Lebron is no where near MJ and neither is any other player in the league. In twenty years time people might start to really appreciate how lucky we were to see him in action. I would be envious of anyone that was lucky enough to see the great man live in action

If you were building a basketballer, he'd look like James, no doubt. But the speed of the bloke is amazing given his size. Compared to Jordan, James is better in every regard other than shooting. He's a brilliant passer, probably the best defender going too, and rebounds everything he gets near.

He perhaps isn't the greatest shooter, but in high school when the scouts all rocked up to watch one night he went 7/7 from outside. Career 33% shooter from 3 as well. Given he's usually under a lot of pressure and has been the one to take the shot with the clock winding down on every team he's played in that's decent.

Of the players who play/played a similar role, Bryant shoots 34% and Jordan himself was at 33%.

I'm not sure I put him past Jordan just yet, but I have always thought he was a strong chance to pass him in the end. I'd say he's on the verge of joinin Bird and Johnson right now in the grand sceme of things.

MJ has put in more memorable finals appearances then any other player in the modern game. Lebron has yet to put in 1.

FWIW, Game 5 of the 98 Finals is on One HD at 1am tonight.

All good points.

1. The argument isn't about if he's better now, it's how much he might be better, in the future.
2. You can compare them. You can compare anyone you want. It's called a comparison.
3. If you were building an athlete in general, you would make him like LeBron!

Fact of the matter is, in my opinion Howard and James rely more on their physical attributes than anyone else in the upper echelon of players.

Jordan was, what 27+ when he won his first ring (from the article I think). Kobe had 3 at 23 or something.

As the article says, rings don't choose players.

Who would you rather have, Steve Kerr and Robert Horry, or Charles Barkley and Karl Malone?
