2007 SANFL LADDER PREDICTION THREAD

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby Jimmy » Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:39 pm

ok, now its time to put in a prediction

North - has to be their time now
Eagles - right up there again
South - why not hey? better than saying centrals
Centrals - the ghost still lingers.....
Port - will sneak into the 5

Bays - a shocking loss to sturt will see them finish 6th again
West - hey, its about time they did something, why not now?
Sturt - i dont have it in me to tip them for last but i konw its a big ******* possibility
Legs - someone has to and i aint tipping sturt there; possible to swap 8th and 9th however

i understand its going to be a long season for the blues but an exciting one nonetheless with a new coach and new enthusiasm around the club will hopefully build a solid future for years to come

go you double blues!!!!!!!!! :D
Carn the blues!!!!!

I wacked the expert tips in this thread in to a spreadsheet and computed the consensus so far:

North
Eagles
Central
Port
Glenelg

South
West
Norwood
Sturt

.... funny to see the supporters push their own teams up their lists but good on you for that  I had to ignore the guy who picked Westies to finish 1,2,3,4 and 5.

Bring on the season! Should be a very close this year which is great for the SANFL. Plenty of quality recruits and strong teams

My opinion, and as I always say, opinions are like bad smells, every ar5eholes got one....

Eagles - expect them to be the benchmark, again, this year.
Norths - should make the GF - but I can't quite see them saluting the judge - as they play an attacking high possesion game which is great in the minor rounds but doesn't quite cut the mustard in September / October (see 1977, 1981, 1982, 1988, 1990 & 1992)

Centrals - they still have the two players I would love in the Bays side - the Gowan's   and the have a proven game plan that works in September / October
Souths - Monty's to make the finals IMHO can see them possibly finishing higher but rate the other three sides as better ATM

Glenelgs - have recruited reasonably well to cover the lack of depth in the midfield in 2006, should make the finals but could quite easily finish 6 or 7.
Ports - expect their "gun" forwards to be hyperventilating by half time as opposition backmen, run them off their feet. Still rely on Clayton too much in the mid-field.

Wests - have recruited well but their biggest problem is off the field Wiederman is a minibus i.e. half a coach, as a Bays fan I'm an expert in spotting dud coaches.
Norwoods no cash to recruit, bad eggs still make a bad omlette for Hill see comment on Wiederman
Sturts - you can't make a silk purse out of pigs ear, Macgowan appears to be switched on as a coach but realistically sturt are like Norwood 2-3 years away once the off-field $$$ get sorted and they can get better cattle.

With my groupings I can see those sides swapping positions i.e. North winning the thing, South making the prelim, Sturt finishing 7th etc but I thnk it is less likely compared to how I have listed them.

Footnote, how the F*** I can make any reasonable predictions based on the fact I am reliant on all youse blokes for my footy info and the 'Tiser, living 60 km over the border is anyones guess
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Hey Tassie, when I first got on this site a month ago and read your articulate comments and passionate support of the Bays I seriously wondered if you were Cornsey ..... don't know if you take that as a compliment or not but I have since managed to deduce that you didn't wear no 12 for the Bays and South :D

I dont believe the EAGLES can win the flag with some of the outs that they have had over the summer.
