Thank you Port Adelaide Football Club

Postby Rik E Boy » Tue Feb 27, 2007 1:05 pm

It's not too often that I hand out bouquets to the PAPsmears but as a Cat fan I thank them from the bottom of my broken heart for selecting Travis Boack (sp?) ahead of Joel Selwood in last year's Draft. I probably should have had a look at Boack perhaps before posting this as I believe that he is playing against the Cats and fans will be able to have a look at both players in the formative stages of there careers to see if the Power has made the right call on this one.

I cannot recall of even one draft pick for the Cats who looked ready to play senior football by Round 1 during the pre-season but Selwood appears to be it. I reckon the kid can play but according to Port this Boack chap is the better player. Of course the jury must be out for a few seasons at least but I am getting a happy feeling that Port just might have **** up here. See Essendon, no need to tank!

Here's hoping! \:D/

No worries !!!

Selwood did seem to fit in nicely so I rekon you might get some good miles out of a couple of your draftees.

If you consider a response of such content to be a 'bite',well reel away.Im happy to play.

PUUUURRRRRRRRLLLLEASE!

I cant believe,no,I dont believe some one as intelligent as you would possibly contemplate making such a statement! No,I wont have it,Wedgie,it appears as though someone has cracked REB's log-in code and has made this post under his identity.

To consider cracking a chubby over a kid who played one game against Richmond,RICHMOND FFS as "ready to play senior football" is a big,big call.Even in an internet forum.

And your evidence to support this? Your years of "talent spotting' for senior football clubs?

I think Selwood's dodgy knee was the main reason Port bypassed him. Also, maybe he was regarded as too similar to Pearce and S Burgoyne, and the club was looking at a different type of player.

I wont be making my judgement for AT LEAST another 5 years.

I guess that's what happens when you are gracious to Port, people question your intelligence heh heh. Don't you think Selwood will play senior football this season Mr Boon? I think he will. OK, maybe not in round one but sometime during this season at least. As you know I've been a Cat fan for a long time and I can't remember to many if any draft picks that I could say that about, maybe Kane Tenace but that's about it. We haven't had much joy in the draft (father-sons aside) due to our penchant for consistently finishing mid-table but I reckon this kid will be a steal for the Cats. To quote Boston, it's 'More than a feeling' (no chubby but, every Cat fan's enthuisiasm for anything is tempered after last year's freak out!).

He will, from what I saw on Sunday play senior football this year.So I think will Travis Boak, both of us will get to see them both in action this week as Boak impressed in internal trials and will get a gig up in Darwin this weekend.

Impressive early form by both of them, keep in mind both Port and the Cats (IMO) will be in the 8th-12th bracket.Making it somewhat easier to crack into the senior side, more so than if they were at Freo or West Coast or Sydney.
