also heard that their could b a change of captain in a's.
Who do you think is going to be skipper then.
In regards to players bing left out of round 1, it wouldn't surprise me. There has been good numbers on the track and i think if you dont train you may not play.

Fair rant Crumber but I think the word you were looking for is Apathy.
Although in my opinion I think all involved (players, coaches, supporters, etc.) would not mind if the HFL put half its time into addressing the umpiring issue. The game has to have them.
It has already been stated that they need another 10 field umpires a week this year with the loss of byes in both grades.
This will mean more pressure on clubs to supply for Junior grades maybe even B's.
The whole culture around umpires has to change. Who cannot remember instances like a 13 year old Goal umpire in the B's at Goat Park making a wrong decion at the South End and then being pelted with bottles and cans for the rest of the match. I think this lead to more wrong decisions cause he was now looking in the other direction, or an Under 17 umpiring under 12's at 8.30am doing the Committee a favour and being abused all day by some pretty fearsome characters.
Last season I saw some pretty ordinary displays of control by 2 umpires in Under 17s both in Country and Central all that testosterone. Yet come out to watch some pretty scary types in Country B's totally controled by a little fat fella that obviously had their respect.
The Central A grade umpiring last season was at its lowest I have seen in the Hills. I do like the idea of the Leprachauns in green for their first year. But more money, ideas, effort needs to be puit in by everybody to change this situation.
Just my point of view.

I doubt he will play in the twos, if he pulls out his finger he will be up with the big boys.
Who is this warbo bloke anyway? Is he the one that couldn't lace Fleety out at echunga training?

Trigga would be a good captain, but Cuttso has been there through all the shit.
When we got pumped week in week out, he was there. I was going to give footy away after 2004 (due to injuries) and play real football, but Cuttso convinced me to play on because things were turning around. Now I've got 2 flags (and a completely broken body!!)- cheers Cuttso!!!
I think Matty Stapes is the natural successor.
I reckon you gotta stick with the locals when it comes to captaincy.

I was playing in that match you speak of, and there were no bottles or cans thrown, just a LOT of abuse for what was a dead set appaling decision. That kid (who I believe now plays A's at IB) was dead set cheating!
On the umpiring issue, I have umpired A grade (boundary) including finals and definately agree that the standard was very low in 2006. But until there's more incentive to do it - more coin, there's only going to be the die hard old school of umps who would probably do it anyway.
I would be happy to have a crack at becoming a central umpire, but for all the abuse and training, I'd want more than $50 per game.

What players do you speak of?
Even though all recruits play footy because they love the game and enjoy the social aspect at the devs, there still getting paid. I would have thought that in order to receive match payments you should be at all trainings just like an ordinary job. If they aren't selected to play in the A's, match payments should be forfieted. Thats my opinion anyway.

He is a loser, but can play. Cards pretty close to his chest doesn't sound anything like him? Where abouts were you working with him?

welcome the newcomer to this forum.
play nice with him boys...
big statement no.1
1 - kersbrook will be the best team in HFL of both divisions, bar no one. brett, paul, roger james, josh francou and stuart dew are just the tip of the iceberg for who these guys are recruiting. add them to an already very competitive side (consider kane paues and westley, brad pearce and matt scott) and these guys will be awesome.

We'll play nice as long as you don't put anymore outrageous posts up.
Seriously, if Kersbrook played the Devils, they'd get pumped. All those blokes included. I'd say 10 goals minimum.

add to that list rumors of at least 2 - 3 other league quality playes and you've got yourself a serious match. my money would be on kersbrook.
that's nearly half a side that could slot into any SANFL club any day of the week. a guy whose won an AFL premiership, one whose finished in the top 5 of the brownlow. and the rest of the team filled out with very respectable players, and this is a statement coming from someone who loves to see kersbrook lose!

...and the fact that they'll be just taking it as a bit of a social kick around the park. I'm mean if they were looking for a good solid game of country footy would they go to Kersbrook? I'm think probably not. Even with 5 absolute guns as DA said I'd be very very surprised if they got with in 10 of the top two or 3 Central Div teams. Westley is a gun, as much as he was when playing at LOby, probably not, starting to age and those ankles must be causing him serious grief by now!
The gap between the two divs has widened a lot more over the last 3 or 4 years. I'm already feeling sorry for Bridwood...won't be too much fun. Can't see this plan of keeping their quality juniors at the club by moving up to Div 1 working unfortunately.
