If you read this thread closely mate you'll find that we agree on that point. Not one person has come on to this thread and supported the superfolous efforts of the rule committee who are a bunch of muppets of the highest order.

I love my footy as much as you and I don't actually mind the (EPL) Soccer but I won't be coming on to a Soccer forum or thread to demonstrate my alliegance to Australian Rules Football the game for Australians by Australians. What other ball sport has the rules bastardised every year without fail? None that I know of and like you I'd like them all to GTFO.

Apachebulldog you sound like a bitter old man who was barred from ever going to an AFL match and so decided to hate. Players of today are now fitter, stronger, run harder and play at a higher level for longer then ever before. If you are so pleased in watching SANFL thats your perogative, but to get on here and continually lambast others for providing their own opinions about another comp is immature.
I personally enjoy watching players run their guts out week after week to get to every contest, jump harder and stronger to take the pack mark and get the most out of their bodies then has ever been seen before. I definitely dont miss the thugs that used to used to apparently exist in the "harder, tougher, stronger" footy of the 60's, 70's and 80's that brought others back to their level via thuggery.

You all still do not understand its all about rule tampering and bastardisation of our great game, sure taking a pack mark used to be a fantastic spectacle until you guessed it another rule change to make it easier to mark the nugget soft for sure hey its not basketball its Aussie Rules FOOTBALL and i am not talking about thuggery my friend, sure ya gotta be fit to run all those kms but hang they now have four on the bench and maybe in future maybe more another rule change as i said its a fast running hand balling pretty sanitised game for the TV masses and all the kiddies, and this is not a lambast its an opinion of what has happened to this code over the last 20 years all my friends have been saying the same hingt for many years now as i guess some of your mates and friends probably think the same thing its called an opinion my friend which we are all entitled to.

That is not the case anymore unless you can run the hundred in 10-12 seconds and are about 6ft tall forget it your dream is over.

The days of your Greg Williams type players is long gone.

Also what does a rule commitee do if they are not changing rules?

That is why i find alot of older people are turning to soccer these days as they can relate the game to what they use to play as kids.

Under 11 soccer for Elizabeth Downs in 1993 is still the same game as played in the English Premier League to this day

Under 11 football for Eastern Park in 1993 is not even close to being the same sport they now play in the AFL.

I think you'll find the shift from the athlete back to a footballers will happen. Barlow is an example of a player that didn't set the world alight in testing but can play the game. Blokes like him, callinan, j pod all wouldn't have got the chance 5 years ago
