Good day last sunday at the kennel, the coach seems positive and ready to take plympton to the next step. Bringing him with him a club favourite shane smith and a young bloke to help him. Seem like we havent lost anyone as yet really and should gain a few!

Hibberd no loss, hackham can have him! the main gist of the post was that there is no exodus of players and the key young main group is still there.

Problem with division 5 is that the backline is normally the weakest area, and light on talls, would be interesting to see how he goes against a good tall defender... he won the mdeal...would suggest he's the best

He did and when a player wins a medal, it does usually mean he's the best player in that comp for that year.

You are somewhat correct Blackadder in saying that in Div 5 side that sometimes the weakest area of their team is their backline, as the team often looks to stack their forward line for the advantage and backlines are therefore sometimes light on tall defenders.

But in saying that Miegel is a ruckmen up around the 200cm mark, so I don't think it matters how good and tall the defender is, he's still playing on a ruckmen, which is often something a defender is not used to. Therefore it is harder to play on a ruckmen because of his distinct height advantage.

Russell venveliet is another, and maybe harland. One of which wouldn't be a big loss!... And I'm sure vandahaak isn't a certainty?

But Your post is incorrect! Because clearly there is somewhat of an exodous of players. with Harland, Hibbards, Veinvleit, Sinclair, Gifford. Plus the likes of Rogers Bottroff and Janitz all retiring. That's an exodous!! You may have kept these young players. But not alot of experienced heads on the field anymore to keep all the young kids, and several individuals who just do what they want in line! Which was majority of the problem last year. Good luck with a young inexperienced coach being able to do this! Especially with several experienced players leaving! Very interested to see how plympton go this year!

Also, I think everyone has forgot the fact that the 1 who wouldn't be a big loss to you apparently! Did brake his ankle in round 1 of the yr. And played again after only 6 weeks off! A pretty good effort to even get back on the park and play some sort of footy. When firing on all cylinders, venveleit would have dominated this division!

Wasn't saying he isn't a good player when he's up and about, but he's just another outside player(reluctant to go in hard), and Plympton have plenty. He probably is suited to a higher division where its not as scrappy and gets clean delivery. They need inside players and talls, especially with note to some of the players that are rumoured to be leaving!

He is a very good player but had a few injury problems this year from memory. I rekon Smithfield could be around the mark this year too.
We are a drinking team with a football problem!

Ive played with steve and seen some great players, but for a player that can turn it on it the middle and then go forward and bag 5 goals whilst doing for over 10 years against some good sides, is testiment to the man. Also has the best hands when marking over head ive seen, sticky fingers

For a bloke that won the association medal when his team finishes 8th is far effort, also came second the year before, if wasnt for injury this year would have won a second in a row for sure.
