Looks like Foxtel is the winner and I can maybe start to hold my breath before the announcement.

looks like some exclusive live games for SA and WA fans of the local clubs in their markets too......

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The exclusivity idea could be interesting, if it pans out that Foxtel do get the Crows and Power games on occassion live either against the gate or interstate that could cause quite some angst.

It would probably happen though that Foxtel would have to share the game live into South Australia with either 7 or 10. Still it would be interesting to see if Foxtel stick to their guns for exclusivity, a rumor is that they get a game live from interstate and the others can have it after a 2 hour time delay.

Foxtel has always run at a loss and to this day is not making a profit, millions have been poured into it to keep it afloat. It could be though that if they did get exclusivity into WA and SA that more people might get Foxtel connected and cause them to make a profit.

It could also backfire and people could well switch to the radio or another code of sport.

Where did you hear that, Sojourner?

I think he has his wires crossed, FOX Footy ran at a loss, but they took the hit as it was a loss leader....FOXTEL itself makes nice profits, will probably make even more without the expense of Fox footy in '07.

Why should there be angst if the Crows/Power fans have to watch Foxtel to watch their teams play once of twice a season...Spoilt brats, dont realise how good they have got it

I am not totally sure, it may have been on Leon Byners show on 5AA.

Listening to the news today they are talking about a 3 hour delay, so it will be interesting to see if that is the case or not.

i dont subscribe to FOXTEL and i must admit I do hate the fact that I miss out on a lot of Geelongs games.

the fact of the matter is all sports tv will become pay-per-view, just as it is in europe, all soccer teams have there own station and you have to subscribe to it. I can see that happening here sooner rather then later.

If FOX do get a good deal on the AFL then im guessing there will be more of an atmosphere down at the pub watching the game!

Despite having Austar (ATM), you have a point Booney, as I said in an earlier thread I have a problem with 50% of games being exclusive to pay TV. A 5/3 split FTA/:Pay TV is better IMHO, So much for: the game of the people for the people........

With a potential move back to Adelaide Foxtel will be out of the question when I have to fork out a home loan $100K larger than my current one. Mind you I have Austar to guarantee watching the Crows in the NT and more lately Victoria, in Adelaide i want have that problem.

If and when we come back looks like more time with the kids and at the Bay, a win:win really

Exactly, people have short memories as to how bad the coverage was under Channel 7 last time but usually the people that follow interstate clubs like yourself and myself Dutchy have good memories. I was lucky to see Geelong once a month under Channel 7 and lucky to see them live once every 2 months.

I see now Channel 7 will be delaying all games on Friday night till after 8.30pm even Crows and Power games where Channel 9 brought the Crows and Power games forward.

Channel 7 screwed the Adelaide based AFL fans for many a year and it looks like they're jumping straight back on where they left off.

Back when Christopher Skase ran the show at Channel 7 in the late 80's all we were subjected to was
the Brisbane Bears copping a towelling each week at Carrara!

Well I see it as a win espeically for us fans way out here, Adelaide people don't know how lucky they have been in the past and still will be. Here in Ceduna on FTA we will get like last year 2 live games, image if that was the case in Adelaide?

I have Austar and am glad I will be able to watch the majority of games LIVE!

I still don't undertand channel 7 wanting Friday night footy delayed? Surely a ratings bonanza I would have thought!
