Jim05 wrote:When selecting a state team you are picking the best squad of your comp. No doubt the top 24 blokes from SANFL and WAFL match up evenly thats why state games usually close. After that I think standards drop fairly quickly. I can only go on what ive seen and I was very disappointed with nearly every game ive attended. I may be wrong but its just an opinion

We had a 23rd man.
Well it had to be either yourself who Squawk who were there helping out the side Barto...
Myself, Johnny Nanks and PhilH would not come close to fitting into one of the jumpers...
Squawk had his hand up, yes

Given NT Thunder play in the Qld comp this would be the first TRUE national aussie rules comp with every state having a chance of being involved.
Based on 2010 standings the 16 teams would be
Central District (SANFL)
Norwood (SANFL)
Eagles (SANFL)
Glenelg (SANFL)
North Ballarat (VFL)
Northern Bullants (VFL)
Williamstown (VFL)
Box Hill Hawks (VFL)
Swan Districts (WAFL)
Claremont (WAFL)
East Perth (WAFL)
East Fremantle (WAFL)
Morningside Panthers (QLD)
Clarence Roos (TAS)
Ainslie (ACT)
East Coast Eagles (NSW)
Opening Round Games (with my seedings to have one from SA/VIC/WA/Other) could be
Pool A
Central District v Clarence
East Perth v Box Hill
Pool B
Morningside v East Fremantle
Norwood v Williamstown
Pool C
North Ballarat v Ainslie
Claremont v Woodville West Torrens
Pool D
Swan Districts v East Coast Eagles
Northern Bullants v Glenelg
This would ensure teams from the same state would not meet until the semi (final four).
