2010 Premiers- Collingwood!

Postby Punk Rooster » Sun Oct 03, 2010 8:36 am

It's been 20 long years, but the drought has broken.
I have not drank like that for a long time.
Well done to Mick Malthouse for being gracious in victory- let's see the knockers find an angle to bag him on that one...
Saints supporters- I've been through the feeling before (2002-03), so hang in there, your time will come.
Pies supporters- enjoy it, soak it up , who knows when our next one will be.
My son was baptised yesterday :D

Mate I'm gald your enjoying it. Flags are extremly hard to get and although I dispise collingwood you have to take your hat off to them, they are the best team this year by far and well considering the age of most of your key players there is not reason besides premiership hangovers that you guys can't go close again.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

i'm not exaggerating, but i don't rekon i've ever been this happy. I was only 4 in '90, so i cant remember it.

This is something i'll treasure forver. My son now is only a few months younger than i was in '90, so i suppose he wont remember this. I hope to god he dosnt have to wait as long as i did to be able to remember one.

Apart from a very notable exception in 2004 I've not known a WINNING premiership coach that ISN'T gracious in victory.

Congratulations on your win. Collingwood thoroughly deserved the victory. Enjoy it. Now STFU ;)

Traditionally the premiers get a tougher draw for the following season, this means Collingwood will now have only 17 home games and 3 interstate trips ;)

How classy was Luke Ball after the win ? I have never actually rated him as a player, but his humbleness after the victory was amazing. It was genuine too, not just saying what he thought was right.

I disagree Linder, although having a dig at your major sponsor during your acceptance speech definately wasnt the right thing to do, i thought williams showed nothing but admiration for what brisbane had achieved in the past 4 years, "they are as hard as hell to beat, and its as sweet as hell to beat them"

By stating to a sponsor that the call that port wouldnt win a flag under williams was wrong doesnt mean he wasnt gracious.

The worst calls that came from williams were the "2007 premiership photo would look nice here" call leading into the 07 granny, and the "one team is on the way up, the other one down" after the first showdown this year....

but I can't! :(

Seriously though, as much as I enjoy bleating my chest about my team and how well they've gone, it was pretty obvious after the first few rounds, that Collingwood were a class above.

Other years it has looked the same, and they've died off, and got that horrid choking tag, but this year, they just kept going.

Can still improve the side, and the whispers from today are that Cloke and Jack Anthony will be gone, so that gives another young (hopefully) key forward the chance to show off their wares.

Such a young side is the key.

Hawks beat Geelong two years ago, and Hawks now are lucky to make the finals. They are absolutely done.

Collingwood could go for the next four or five seasons.

Absolutely unreal performance.

I'm not sure Cloke will be a loss.
Maybe he draws the best defender, but if we lose him to the GC, we should be chasing a strong marking/key forward.
Bringing Tarrant back to the club is not the greatest idea, as we should look to the future, not the past.
As for the talk of Collingwood's future- let there be none.
Let's celebrate this flag, & when R1 comes around next year, let's just see if we can play good footy & win.
