Taking a look at the match-ups...

Wellingham seems to be playing a run-with role on Montagna, not a hard targ, but is beating him at this stage. Needs to keep it up in the second half.

Swan being predictably tagged by Jones. Both with 7 touches, however, Swan has six tackles at this stage and is contributing to Collingwood's frontal pressure in the first half.

Eddy trying his best to make Maxwell accountable. Maxwell hasn't been dominant but has at least been able to get third man up at times and play the extra man in defence when the ball hits the deck.

Farren Ray giving Didak a towelling at the moment. Didak particularly ineffective with disposal.


It's a collective game being played by the Pies at the moment. No real standouts, but have the scoreboard advantage. On the other hand, Saints have a few passengers at the moment.

Interesting that the saints have had more possessions, but getting a lot of them under extreme pressure, St Kilda have to go back to a more structured set up with Kossie in the goal square and Reiwoldt at CHF and tell them to stay there, no use Reiwoldt getting kicks on the half back line, Milne has to just hover aroiund the packs and do the one percenters, saw him 3 times that 1/4 not chase, Collingwoods defence has been made to look good because the Saints main trumps are well up the ground.

Unfortunately however cant see the Saints getting back from here this week but Collingwood do play a highly demanding physical game, if the saints are within 2 or 3 at 3/4 time it could again be game on

Interesting you say that Saints can't get back in it from here.

Collingwood find themselves in a similar position to last week and would surely have learnt from that second half experience. You'd think that they'd attempt to lift their intensity at the contested ball so as to not allow the Saints an easy comeback.

Another factor that will come into play is fatigue. Who has recovered better? Who can still execute a high level of skill under the fatigue?
