Great player but he should of retired weeks ago. He's been playing injured all season, trying to get towards that illustrious flag he desires but hasn't contributed performance wise all season. Pack it in Johno.

How can you have such longevity without real quality? Duds dont get picked over 300 times.

Not a dud but not a great. Sure he was a useful player and the fact he had a good run with injury has allowed him to play as long as he has. Good luck to him but he is not a great just a handy player who played for a long time.

Look at his stats. Up there with the best. kicked 75 goals in one year, which is an amazing effort considering his size, was named captain of the all-australian side and won numerous best and fairests.
Although a hog, he is a great! No question in my books

Apart from starting the thread, I didn't want to say much, since my AFL opinions have been poo-pooed of late, so make sure your sitting down for my next pearl...

Bar Scott West and Rohan Smith, Brad Johnson is the best "career Bulldog" in the last fifteen years...

I would have Chris Grant above Johnson and Wynd before Smith personally

Doug Hawkins, or does the 15 year limit rule him out?

Wasn't a career bulldog that's why he wouldn't fit in that category

Dog Hawkins is the very definition of a career Bulldog. He turned down big money from other clubs to leave the Bulldogs and only left the club when they no longer wanted him. LOL at people rating Scott West. Slow and couldn't kick over a jam tin. Poor man's Diesel.

i'm guessing you wouldn't rate Crossy then either REB.

I do agree that Westy was very much a link man through the midfield, lead the comp in handballs and handball receives IIRC, however he did put his body on the line and was often at the base of packs. Cross is a very very similar kind of player...

ok... Griffen i understand your gripe... Higgins though, has ability, the problem is availability... just injured too much!

Tell me, out of the Doggies side, who do you rate?

Boyd, Lake, Cooney and Hall. I think that Ward, Roughead, Grant all show promise and young Liam Jones might be a player as well.

Morris? Bit of a plodder. We've got Dasher why would we need Morris? Morris isn't a bad player by any stretch but he's just as overrated as the rest of em. As for those other two princesses. Hence is the problem. These flat track bullies go missing when the action heats up and the Bullies have far too many of them.
