Football will be the winner :)

Actually I don't care, but I reckon the Cats will be smoking hot in 2 weeks time so I'm I'll be on them.

Fremantle's pace may make this a much closer game than many would think. Not saying the Dockers will win, but I wouldn't expect a blowout in this game at all. The intangible is their generally poor MCG record (not won there since 2007).

No.

No.
Freo will do well if they get within 60 points.
Geelong have had a habit of obliterating the next side they play after a loss.

Not sure about them obliterating the next side they play after a loss:
Round 1 2009 -
Hawthorn 3.2 8.4 10.6 16.7 103
Geelong 4.8 8.16 14.19 15.21 111
8 points isn't obliterating anyone....

I meant to add this year.

MP, cats fans should know better than anybody that having the "best team" sometimes doesnt result in a flag....were the hawks the best team in 08? no- flag...yes, were the saints the best team last year? yes- flag...no. IMO its down to the pies, cats and saints for the flag, but just because one of the cats/pies will be eliminated in their prelim (if it eventuates) doesnt mean the granny will be a "fizzer". I think a saints/ pies or saints/cats can still produce a bloody good contest!

On paper the cats certainly amass the most talent, but for the cats to even be thinking about collingwood now would spell trouble. Get past freo first (should happen) and we can strap ourselves in for one hell of a prelim!

Don't lump all of us Cats fans together, some of us that have been around for a long time have seen too much heartache to get ahead of ourselves. I'm treating Freo with the same respect Id treat any other finals side. They've had some good results ove us in recent years and playing them on a Melbourne ground is another unknown.
I'll worry about other finals if/when we get to them, it'd be arrogant and disrespectful to behave otherwise.

Read my post again wedgie, i was directing it at cat fans (in fact any fan) that thinks that because their team is the best on paper it automatically guarantees them the flag. If your the fan that respects the opposition they are playing that week then good on you

I don't have to read it again mate, if my post was in reply to your post I would have quoted you which I didn't.
My post was just a general plea to the whole community in regard to the very small minority of Cats fans who are loudmouthed and huge fans now (and experts at getting ahead of themselves) but not seen or heard from in the darker years.

Yeah Ive got a good record in finals for Geelong, was at the 94 Prelim when Ablett kicked the winner after the siren, been to the last 2 prelims also, but am 0 - 2 in GFs. Ironically when I got tickets to the 97 GF and cheered for the Crows I kind of got a winner.
Went last week, got my tickets for next week and will go to the Collingwood Prelim if we make it.
GF tix are harder to get as a Geelong member as we have over 40,000 members now so about a 35% chance now but will still try if we get that far.

Yep, you can never take anything for granted in football. If Freo came out and hit Geelong hard and the Cats got over the line in the end after a tough physical match with a couple of injuries, they could find they may run out of petrol tickets against a fresher Collingwood.

Just get the Geelong v Fremantle game played first, then we'll think about the prelims.

Of course we have to get over the line against Freo first. I have been criticised of being too cocky on this thread, but I honestly believe we will beat Freo and to be quite honest, if we don't win, we never deserved to be there. I'm not going to bitch and moan. Honestly though, I just hope we do get the opportunity to play the Pies in the Prelim, because we are to Collingwood, like Hawthorn is to Geelong. It doesn't matter where you are on the ladder, it's how you handle that pressure and I believe we have a real opportunity to do some damage.

P.S - I'm off my lips. Still think we will beat Freo though
