Camping in SA

My sister has been to Deep Creek a few times this year and says it's brilliant.

She's right, and it is very close to Adelaide as well, you can't have dogs there though. My inlaws are part of a group called Friends of Deep Creek, they often stay down there as camp ground hosts in peak times as well as help with maintenance at other times.

Has anyone camped at the Wilpena Pound camp ground?
It looks great on the net.
Just wondered if anyone's been there, done that.
If so, any rec's for things to do while up there?

I prefer the Rawnsley Park camp ground to the Wilpena one and cheaper I think.

Although it was a while ago when the road to Blinman was still dirt.
There are plenty of walks and historic sites around and you can have the campfire at night, you just need to collect the wood.

Collecting the firewood was so much fun! We went to one of the dried-up creekbeds on the Hawker-Wilpena road and hunted around there, came across all sorts of animal and bird life on the way. Rawnsley Park is a fantastic place. I want to go back, haven't camped there since I was about fifteen - although I did drive up there on a whim relatively recently just to climb Alison's Saddle and then drive back home... about 800km round trip.

Definately cat have dogs at yorks, is a great place though, fish surf, drink beers and relax, never a bad day down there!

Going to Robe in a few weeks, gonna camp in the sand dunes but not sure where exactly, there is a camp ground, just unsure how busy it will be!
Only problem with Robe, alot of the really good spots is you need to have more then 1 4wd with you, otherwise if ya get stuck you can eb in trouble!
Ill be doing the sand dune tracks and hopefully catch a few salmon while im down there!!
