I wouldn't have brought him straight back in the week after Davis got his RS nomination. He is injury prone now and if at his age he can get the sort of offer he has he would be crazy not to take it.

A previous post stating he probably knows himself he's not worth that much was spot on, the Crows would have been like a Labour Govt had they tried to match it, over spending.....

I don't think anyone on here is suggesting that he isn't a quality player and won't be a big loss. I think most of us are just suggesting he isn't worth throwing the kitchen sink at to keep, that's all. The Gold Coast placed a ridiculous offer on the table that Adelaide couldn't/wouldn't match, and Bock took the money and ran. Their ain't nothing Adelaide can do about it, so time to plan for life without him.

I say good on Adelaide for sticking to it's guns, and good on Bock for taking what is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him.

A question for you Booney - If Bock was on Port's list would you have wanted them to match the GC's ridiculous amount to keep him?

He WAS an AA CHB.... Has hardly set it alight this year and I have doubts that Gold Coast will get 3 good years out of him...

But in the end, it's a business and he's looking after himself and his future by chasing coin. He's been the first to admit that his body is hardly sound these days so is he ripping the Gold COast off by taking 3 years knowing he may not get to fulfil that ??

Fanta Pants - I would have though that Adelaide would have the money to do so. Sure, you asked if it was Port but I see it this way. Adelaide are clearly building something that could be successful in the next 3-5 years. We all know you build your teams from the back half and Bock is crucial to Adelaides set up. Adelaide are well known to not throw huge money around and that is what has cost them Bock's signature. In all reality I am sure Adelaide could have afforded it, no doubt. Their list is full of talented youngsters who at this stage come cheap. Have they cut their nose of to spite their face?

If he, as an AA CHB at 27 was at my club I would want them to do everything possible to keep him. The question to you is, do you think Adelaide did everything possible? If they didn't then they cant grizzle.


Broady - Krakouer will ( if he goes ) be a loss. The bulk he has added to his frame in the last 12 months now has given him the confidence to try and break tackles, take players on. Just what you need from a half back. Is he a loss? Yep. A big one IMO.

To be honest, I would have been more dissapointed if GC hd got their hands on the likes of Dangerfield or Tippett than I am about Bock. He is a running CHB who has been proven to be able to be replaced. Deffinately in the Crows best 22 but that sort of money talks, good luck to him. The compensation is a tough one, heard on the radio they can take a first round draft pick in the next 3-4 years, if it is next year it will be 26ish, the year after the same, the year after will be the first pick after the crows first round draft pick ie we finsih bottom we get 1 and 2 and so on.

Unfortunately this is now a business and this will happen more and more, especially over the next two years!

Yes he was an AA in 2008 with 23 games under his belt, nearly 500 disposals and 160 marks but his figures have dropped from that year and early in 2009 and I think in the end the club could see that he may not have improved anymore in the years to come. Only 27 games in 2009 and 2010 combined. Was he going to be value for money ?? I think not. A good player when at his best, and as I said, I dont really blame him for chasing coin but I get the feeling his best may be a thing of the past...

Your example is a false anology. Ablett will be set whether he goes or not. No I'm not sure what he is going to do cos the Bugger is tight lipped. Ablett is not on the football equivalent of 200 a week and he might lose more than the ability to ride around the aisles on a bike too. I believe that Ablett is very aware of his place in football history and how he might be viewed. I've swung between 'he's staying' and 'he's going' so many times it's not funny this season but if he goes he'll be a sell out in the eyes of footy history and I reckon he might stay as part of the 'greatest team of all'.

As for his missus, they've been back together for a while now.

The current salary cap is around 8 million a year per club. Bock was reportedly offered $750 000 a year by the GC.

Bock is a great player and would probably make the top 5 at the Adelaide football club particularly factoring in this years retirements. Despite this he is not worth nearly 10% of all salaries payed, I would rate him as about a $500 000 a year player. To suggest he was worth any more than this for Adelaide is ridiculous.

As for Adelaide wingeing, the only thing close to a complaint I have seen from the club is Trigg stating that the possible compensation "stings a bit". I think this comment is a fair one.

Otherwise I think the whole affair has been handled very well by the AFC and by Nathan Bock.

Ablett will be remembered as an annoying hog who racked up cheap handballs whether he stays or not.

Wasn't sure about the missus so good on him for patching that up.

The memories VS money anology is only applicable to relationships.
I could have married an old rich duck and been miserable but instead i'm with a young pretty duck whose not 'rich'.

It always amuses me to see someone parade their ignorance so proudly. Ablett consistently racks up a high contested possession count and has won three straight AFL MVP's. That is, the one voted by the players.

Final result is all that counts!! History counts Premierships, not % of minor round games won. Hell, Geelong were a lot, lot better in 07,08 than Adelaide were in 97,98 but what will be remembered? One team was able to double up......
