Ben Cousins has had plenty of opportunity to talk about his addiction and problems he has faced in life but IMO has purposely kept quiet so that he can create as much interest and money out of his documentary & book.

I have great doubts that this doco was made to create awareness about drug addiction but more to put $$$ in his bank account.

Regardless I will probably still watch it tho.

Not saying that's incorrect Swoop as without knowing him personally I couldn't really say, but when he was interviewed on "On The Couch" a few months back, they raised the question of his prolonged silence regarding his issues.

His response was along the lines of "Anything I said was generally misquoted or taken out of context to create another headline, so I figured if I didn't say anything they couldn't keep making up half of the rubbish that was being written".

Was a great interview, and I actually believed him and grew a great deal of admiration for him upon seeing it ... Others may have listened to him and thought "Yeah bullshit mate"?

Something like this will always polarise opinion, especially when there's $$ to be made as you pointed out.

He must be getting delisted- and wanting another big paycheck...

I think he's done personally...

Having said that- i'll be watching the doco- and recording it, to watch it again... 8)

Is still a very, very handy player and IMO should go round for another year. This doco might be an indication that he's planning on quitting though.

And yes, I will be watching.

REB and Psyber (know-all's) watch it, you may learn something.

Each to his own. Even people who know nothing should know that. Ben Cousins is the most overexposed person in football today and I find him shallow and very dull.

REB

maybe the doco will give you a better insight to the real ben cousins, not whats splashed around in the media.. Your generation have lost touch with reality.. judge him after you watch. REB do you know anything about addiction?

FFS Your generation. Give me a break. Excuse me if I don't happen to think that Ben Cousins should be sitting cross legged atop the mountain in classic guru pose. He is a footballer. Does he have some hidden talent that will astonish all with this documentary? I sincerely doubt it. If you want to watch the doco go ahead but I don't wish to watch it as is my choice and I won't be splashing around trite generalisations about your generation or my generation or even worse offer up bullshit like 'do you know anything about addiction'. Well as a matter of fact I do but I don't feel the need to discuss here just to justify myself to you.

haha
what is FFS? yeah fair enough about the addiction comment and small generalisation, although i believe you know nothing about BC's problems. Nor does anyone, i think the doco will provide some insight.
the thing is, he is not saying he has some hidden talent, in fact he is showing the world his flaws! hopefully this will help others through their problems. Maybe broaden the way you think REB.

I think the thing Im looking forward to with this doco, is how Ben Cousins THE PERSON, has dealt with his evils .. Sure he's a footballer, and he won't be the last to tread this path so I genuinely hope it can help other people (AFL players and everyday people alike) learn and hopefully avoid the pitfalls he has succumbed to.

1. I am open minded and when it comes to drugs I've seen shit you wouldn't believe.
2. If Cousins' doco can help others I'm all for it.
3. Just because I don't find Cousins interesting enough to watch his doco doesn't mean I'm closed minded about the issues involved.

Flyer, I find your comments about my mind and what do I know comments to be highly offensive.
