Thats the spirit!!

We want the players to do the hard yards in the face of adversity but as soon as it gets a bit tough for the supporters we want to jump off...

Laughable!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Who here is jumping off?

I'm pretty sure everyone here will be staying on, doesn't mean they don't have the right to be disgusted with the complete lack of competitive spirit they've shown for most of the year, especially the past 2 weeks.

I love the high and mighty supporter posts.

Meh. I'm not going anywhere. Been a tough year but I love supporting the AFC no matter what the results. Still very happy with the quality of our list and the emergence of half a dozen more likely young players this year. The results haven't come this year, but they will in the next couple, once the younger players start passing the 80 - 100 game barrier and built up their confidence and experience.

I'll still be there, hopefully half the coaching staff won't (Neil Craig not necessarily included). Might be able to get in some people that actually know something about coaching.

The simple fact that above all else is that if we just kicked the kickable goals in the last two weeks we would be sitting % outside the 8. The worst part about this is we would not desrve to be there, both Port and Richmond games we lost off our own boot in front of goal. This is not Neil Craigs fault, nor do i feel it is really any other coaching staffs fault. You honestly cant tell me that afetr the Port game they did not work on goal kicking? At the end of the day the players need to step up and kick those goals, saw Dangerfield miss easy ones, Griffen miss easy ones, Porps miss easy ones. Seems like when we start missing we go back to the chip around style of game that we played early in the year. Maybe there would be a loss in confidence of the forwards? I would be mad a hell as a defender if this kept happening, they work hard to get the ball down there and to have these miss would be shattering.

Lets face it 2010 has been a stinker, we do not deserve to play finals and most of us got wrapped up in the better mid part of the season. We were really dead in the water after losing the first 6. So be it, the good thing is there is always next week and I wont be jumping off them.

In the meantime, go you Redlegs!

I agree ---- 2010 is surely gone now, but I'm still convinced we have a real team of the future.

Out of interest I thought I'd look at last weeks team on games played:

B: Doughty (184), Rutten (144), Stevens (113)
HB: Reilly (131), Bock (111), van Berlo (112)
C: Sloane (11), Thompson (133), Mackay (51)
HF: Henderson (8), Walker (29), Jaensch (9)
F: Porplyzia (83), Tippett (61), Douglas (74)
Foll: Maric (67), Vince (69), Dangerfield (39)
I/C: Griffin (40), Gunston (2), Schmidt (9), Symes (43)

Reality is expecting consistency from that line up is optimistic. Most players start reaching their peak at around the 100 - 150 mark of their careers, if they have exceptional talent maybe you can shorten that to the 60 - 100 mark.

Defence is solid, but centre and attack are incredibly young, inexperienced and therefore inconsistent.

The positive is that if they have the talent, this squad will all peak together in a season or two.

I was so pissed off after that match I sent them an email.
It looks like they had a reply ready for those who did as I got this fairly quickly:
Please rest assured that things are being done about it. Behind the scenes, the coaches are working very hard with the players to try and turn around this current goal kicking problem we have. They have been having one on one sessions for goal kicking, among many other training drills. The coaches are responsible for coaching the players, although when the players walk out onto the ground, it is up to the players to put together all their training and make opportunities happen. We have seen from the players that they have the ability to play some fantastic football, in the game against Geelong and we are working to get this spirit and belief back.
