With regards to WT, further reiterate comments re Ferg: IS fantastic around teh club and is there ffor the long haul - Representative commitments or not, is entrenched in helping the club succeed from the the top all teh way down to the uder 13's./ fantastic to see someone of his stature helping the club so much.

The Cachopa brothers, along with Colin Munro will not be back on a permanent basis, but Brad may be back for a short stint at some stage. Bourney is set to play 2's and Hassy will probably chalk up another 4-500 runs again. Bocky is back, along with a couple of other recuits from interstate we expect to play A grade. Big a grade turnover, but looking promote a lot of promising Juniors - last eyar we won the under 14 red, under 16 reds and under 17 shell shield, so there is plenty of quality coming through at the Eagles.

Must add, bit Harsh regarding the former A grade scorer - she contributed a lot to the club in the past 4 years as a scorer and crucially as a committed volunteer. A lot of clubs would kill for that sort of input from a scorer. Having said that, We're getting the cream of the crop back this year

Haven't heard re: Wes. Lots of people are expecting him to play some 2's or 3's later in the year. WOuldn't want to be a c grade bowler wiht Wes coming in; Put em' all on the fence!

I agree re the services of the retiring scorer. She is an excellent young lady who put in a huge amount of effort for the club, not only in scoring but also in helping to organise a number of events. I am indebted to her for the great work she did.
Not sure about getting the cream of the crop back this year, more like the old-age pensioner of scoring who hopes he can do half the job our previous scorer did!

Think the days of Fisty bowling may be over Turbo.
With the knee that is. could be wrong though havent tried it yet.

Does grade cricket play on the test weekend this year given it is an ashes series ?

SACA most years gives every one the week off for the Test. This year was an exception the A grade one day cup was programmed for the Saturday. All other grades had the week off.

Where traditionally a one day match for 15 points would have been played, two teams will now play each other twice in the same afternoon in the Twenty20 format, with a win attracting 7.5 points per game. Senior and junior grades have been programmed to play two ‘double header’ rounds during the season."

As a captain of a grade that will play this format i was asked to provide an opinion on the format. I initially thought it was a good idea however a finals impacting scenario arises.

purely made up Scenario:

Round 3 (T20 round)
TTG has the bye
Glenelg v ND
Glenelg wins first game ND wins the 2nd.
Both recieve 7.5 points, TTG recieve nothing.
Sturt v Woodville
Sturt win both game recieve 15 points, Glenelg nothing, TTG nothing

The bye on this T20 round effectively is a loss of points where as a bye in anyother round is just that 'a bye'

And people wonder why SA cricket is going backwards. T20 cricket has it's place, but not in the normal Saturday comp. It's a novelty and should be played as a separate competiton. The future of cricket are our Juniors. U16s are dictated to by Colleges, they play on second rate grounds and now they are throwing in stupid T20 games. What message are they sending to Juniors?

What is wrong with the Turf model?

Games on a Tuesday/Wednesday night? have a A and B grade side from each club. obviously for the A graders not much changes but the 2nd side surely out of the other 3 teams you can get 11 blokes together for a game

The comp is run by the clubs, the players responded in a survey that this is what they wanted and the majority of clubs voted for it. All SACA can do is facilitate the wishes of the grade clubs.

The survey asked if you would like to play 20/20 matches next season.

When answering "Yes", that was anticipating it would be like the Under 14 games last year, mid week and not for Premiership points, more Exhibition games so to speak.

To have incorporated in the season is a joke. SACA justified it by using the survey results, but if the question was worded correctly would have been a different result for sure!

i dont see how it hurts... as a borderline 2nds player, how can you knock back an extra chance on a saturday to go out in the first couple of rounds and have a hit to prove yourself. I voted yes to the survey and am very happy saca provided a chance for us to play 20/20... so are a lot of the other young blokes that play.
