Whether you like this being played out in the media or not, Jason's point about the slate being wiped clean at the end of last season AND documented, is a valid point. If that's the case, he is quite within his rights to ask why this has occurred. I'm NOT saying he's right, because I don't think we'll ever know.

Perhaps the great irony of the TFS is that Aker has been sacked (twice effectively) and yet Sam Newman still has a job for all of his indiscretions.

Watching the Footy Show from Thursday and I have a lot of empathy for Akermanis and I can see how he can grate on people but I really think he's been stitched up on this occasion.

The saying "the nail that sticks up is the one that gets hammered down" comes to mind.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

The difference being, Sam is still useful to Channel 9 whereas Aker was no longer useful to the Western Bulldogs.

Leigh Matthews summed it up best. He said at the Lions, Aker was a pain in the arse and was a match winner, but when he ceased being useful on the field, he was just a pain in the arse. He then went on to say you could only tolerate so much of Aker, but then he had to go.

I remember Akermanis being belted off the ball in his debut game for the Bears- the only thing that surprises me is that it didn't happen more often.

On the field, I can only remember Akker being several different kinds of brilliant, but I was wondering: Was he ever reported?

You would assume to be such a thorn in his team's side, he must've infringed on an opponent or four
