The Crows & Power thread.....

Talk on the national game

Choco wont see out the year, and i've already said it.

With Laidley there, the succession plan is already in place.

Choco will go to GWS, and be the succession plan for Sheeds.

Interesting thought. You may be right about him not seeing out the seson, but GWS?

I just can't see Sheeds being long term.

I've been wrong before, but I couldn't see where else he'll get a gig...

All of that looks the most likely and practical scenario .. Sheeds is surely just the initial face up there to sell the club.

The only thing that might get in the way, is one wonders if Choco would be hurting any such senior coaching position for himself with the Powers performances over the last 18 months?

He said something recently about "quitting mid-term is only for coaches who want to protect their win-loss ratio."

I think he's gonna do that, which to the ordinary person, makes him look like a self-centred coach.

I don't think his last 18 months work too well for him, but he is part of the "Dynasty."

Port will not sack Williams, they can't afford to pay his contract out!

LOL Not having the money hasn't really stopped them spending it before.

(j/k Booney ;) )

Thinking about their coaching position, I've always been a fan of Laidley's and thought he would be a great fit at Port given his penchant for a harder edged style to match Ports tradition and origins.

However, Im now starting to think that when Choco's day is done, they might be better with all new blood and someone not already close to the playing group.

Nope, 0-7 since tredders went down against essendon. Im not too fussed about the win loss ratio for the rest of the year, what i would like to see is the power get some game time into his replacement options (whoever that may be).....

Its an interesting assumption that the loss of Tredders has thrown Ports structure off etc and lead to their downfall, when in fact you could argue Tredrea's impact on games/form before his injury was minimal/below his best. It was apparent that he wasnt playing like the tredrea of old, so why when he isnt there have they gone backwards?

Tredrea's presence in the forward line revolved around him, regardless of his form or whether he was the first, second or third best forward. Take that out, as well as Motlops indifferent form, and Port has no plan B for it's forward line. Mr Bobble Head and young Hitchy that's it....

No wonder they can only kick 8 in a game.

While Tredrea hasn't been playing as well as he did in his prime there is no doubt that he is still hugely important to Port's structure. Tredder's work rate is very underrated and he commands a strong defender. Tredrea can still haul down contested marks and he is very much the leader of the forward line.

Port don't have another player of Tredrea's experience, application and physicality and the results have proven this. It aint Rocket surgery Footy Smart. 8)

 just for the record i wasnt having a go in my last post. I understand that comands a strong defender etc etc but he wasnt pulling down contested marks and "providing a presence" only gives a team so much. Has choco changed the game plan and or the players lost faith in there attacking game plan because of his absence. Why not bomb it up to salter, stewert, Schultz etc what do they have to loose and they may find that these blokes are capable of a contested mark

Can the Power win another game this year is the real question.
The other is would either Gold Coast or GWS be silly enough to take Choco on board as coach.
