Talk on the national game

most under rated players

Postby piccachu » Mon Jun 28, 2010 5:23 pm

im not sure if this topic has been discussed before but wandering what players in YOUR OPPINIOn are under rated. for me this is who i see as under rated players

david wojcinski- was really struggling to get a game last year due to the side he plays for, hes exciting to watch as he takes on the game and his leg speed is awsome.

corey enright- only really under rated as he has some absolute super stars in his team and realise if he was playing in most other sides would be getting the credit he deserves.

jared mcveigh- maybe not so under rated in sydney but dont really here to much about him when talking about guns of the comp and in my oppinion he is, rack up touches, touches are effective and kicks goals

dale morris- when talking about key defenders this blokes name never comes up yet continually beats blokes of much bigger stature than him with little fuss, im sure a few fowards dont see him as under rated but i do
Were has Marbles gone and who is Satchel

Good thread Piccachu

Ben McGlynn-Still can't believe Hawthorn got rid of him. Why? He's a gun!
Nick Malceski- Racks them up.
Corey Enright- Probaly the best Mid sized defender in the game.
Tarkyn Lockyer- Always overlooked when people talk about the Pies and the players they can rotate through their midfield.
Cameron Bruce- Been a very good player for Melbourne for a long time.
Jarrad McVeigh- Gets lots of the ball, tackles hard and kicks goals- a very good all round midfielder.
Chris Newman- Good player and a great leader.
Tom Logan-Tough, hard and gets the job done.
Jason Davenport-Comes off the bench and turns it on when the Power needs it.
Jarrod Harbrow-Turned himself into a very valuable running defender for the Bulldogs.
Colin Slyvia-Very important player for the Demons, can play both midfield and forward effectively well.
Michael Gardiner-Very good tap ruckmen who takes a massive grab.
Shane Mumford/ Ben Hudson-Their follow up work is excellent. They aren't scared to lay a tackle.

On former players: Dad always said Edwards (AFC), and I always thought Bassett (AFC).

Currently, Jake King (RFC), Simpson (CFC), Hurn (WCFC), Stevens (AFC).

6 or 7 years ago, I would've said Power (BFC), but then he had Black, Akka, Vossy, Hart, etc in front of him... Class came out in the last few years as the cattle diminished around him...

He has been outstanding this season. Finally repaying the faith the blues have shown in him since drafting him.

JAMES KELLY. Absolute gun but I've only thought so in the last couple of seasons. He used to be overrated but now he is underrated. I reckon Enright is hardly underrated these days, almost the opposite now I would suggest.

As a midfielder he's strictly B Grade rotation at Geelong, maybe A grade at about a dozen clubs. However as a linkman across half back I believe he is simply awesome. He can do the running thing and he's pretty tough too. His disposal is a lot better than it was when everyone was falling over themselves rating him (I recall him being rated higher than Bartel and Ablett early on) and he has really grown at the same rate as the lazy Mackie has receeded into the background. If anyone is getting a gold pass at Catland, it's Mackie. I'd trade his lazy ass.

Believe it or not, I reckon Brendan Goddard.

The guy does it ALL. Can play absolutely anywhere on the field and dominate anywhere. Superstar, top 5 players in the game, and yet he really doesn't get the credit he deserves.

no one else in the history of the game has played so many games without a brownlow vote.

That guys is over rated for mine. PLays in a good back six so doesn't get exposed to often 1:1 but when he does he doesn't win to many of them.
