Recruits worth chasing if available; Rule is only one name for one position, lets see what we can come up with.

Be unlikely to be available midway through his first season with Sydney though.

First thing they really need is a big, mobile key defender. Next would be a clean skilled, fairly quick midfielder who can kick 25-30 goals a year. Certainly a ruckman would be on the list, but that is selling Maric's improvement this year a little short.

They also need a couple of smaller defenders who can build possession in the back half, but go longer out of the 50, rather than merely chipping around building Dream Team points.

No need for big defenders!!! Have Ottens & Davis who will be fantastic for years to come.

Need to have a real good look for a true CHF, the obvious 1 is Pav, but this just simply is not going to happen, so maybe Roughead.

I know it sounds like excuses, but you get more games out of Stiffy, Ottens & Knights return, & leave Walker in to find his feet & learn to trust himself & have the players trust him & 2011 looks alot better.

If it were at all possible, I reckon Adelaide's best solution would be to try and find earlier ways into the draft .. Obviously this is difficult at the best of times, but who knows, maybe the GC would part with some picks for the right players (not sure that Adelaide has many that would be of interest however)

Thought at end of last year could have chased Brian Lake, but Adelaide dont seem to be involved in trade week, there always must be at least a few players from each club that want to change.

That would be a bad idea. Rivers is injured too much and the last thing we need is an injury prone offload and I think Schammer wouldn't offer much more than what we have available in the young blokes now. Surely with no Edwards, Goodwin, Burton One More and Hentschel we'd have a fair bit of room in the cap to chase someone a bit better. Still not sure who yet though.... need some time to think that one over...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

adelaide lack a couple of things in my opinion, some midfield grunt and out and out pace through the midfield.
i'd look at some people who may be in sides that are quite settled unless early draft picks can be sourced (which is highly unlikely as players leaving are more likely to uncontracted)
eg djerrkurra from geelong, edwards from richmond, grigg from carlton, savage from hawthorn, armitage/heyne/stanley fro, st kilda.
i'd also look at puopolo from norwood.

I do believe that the crows could use some regeneration in the box with somebody like carey to take over the forward coaching role.

edwards plays alot like the small fefenders the crows already have in petrenko armstrong and sloan, i rate grigg as a defender and thik that could be an interesting prospect, armatige is going to be a good player but has taken his time getting to were he needs to be for such a high draft pick and i dont think the crows need another player of that type. stanley is another good player but would be pointless for the crows as they already have walker and tippet, IMO
would corey enright, ryan griffen, and ryan shoenmakers be worth haveing a crack at all south Australians and good players

Crows need a hard nut IMO and the one I would chase would be Campbell brown. Jon griffin could be used as a trade as they would like an extra ruckman I would think!

They definitely need to have a crack atthe Pav aswell I think

Josh Fraser seems to be out of favour at Collingwood.... would be worth a trade IMO. Change of environment could do him good and get some competative spirit back in him

I think we have a good enough defence. Rutten and Bock as your keys, Stiffy and Symes to provide support and then Petrenko, Sloane, Davis, Armstrong, Otten, Schmidt to fight it out for the other defensive posts. A few of these guys will hopefully become midfielders (Sloane & Otten) but I think the depth is there. Sellar, Moran, Stevens, McKernan and possibly Talia will be able to provide support should we lose Bock or Truck. Assume Mcleod, Doughty and Hentschel will be gone at seasons end.
Midfield is where we need some class. Vince hasnt come on this year as expected but is still good enough to build a midfield around. Douglas has been the good news story for the year, whilst Mackay has proven he will be a handy 200 gamer off a wing (may be a bit premature but my opinion). I personally think van Berlo is serviceable but I dont think he is great, perhaps he is the one rather than Reily to play the run with/tagging role as his fitness is definitely there. Thompson has been good and is still young but is more the Dal Santo than the Hayes in a gun midfield group. Dangerfield is the class pick in my opinion. Cook has proven to be reasonable off a wing, should improve and perhaps fight for the other wing to Mackay with Reilly, Armstrong, Gunston, Symes etc.
Rucks aren't as bad as I thought. Big Ivan has been good this year and is more than handy. Plenty of support options in Moran, Sellar, McKernan, Tippett and James Craig down the track hopefully. J Griff should be on his way at a reasonable price.
Forward we go. Walker is a FF and only a FF, needs to be left there and he will be very good for a long time. This means Tippett needs to push up to CHF or spend more time in the ruck. Great CHF are too expensive to buy so we need to create our own internally or create a Fevola type model at Carlton with Walker. Whether this is Tippett, Stevens, Sellar or McKernan remains to be seen. Knights is handy up forward and so is Porps. Jacky has been disappointing but Aiden Reily is playing well as were Jaensch and Henderson. A crumbing forward is needed. To go: Edwards, Mcleod, Hentschel, Jacky, Goodwin, Burton, Doughty. Trade out: Griffin, Reily. Trade in: A Brad Sewell type inside midfielder. Draft in: crumbing forward, bit more pace.
