AFL Coaches Pay

Postby Bat Pad » Fri Jul 03, 2009 8:20 pm

With Mark Williams saying that he has gone from being a highly paid AFL Coach to middle of range, where do people think each coach rates in terms of pay from 1 to 16. Here is mine for what it's worth (taking Mark Williams at his word).

1.Michael Malthouse
2.Mark Thompson
3.Michael Voss
4.Rodney Eade
5.Paul Roos
6.Alastair Clarkson
7.John Worsfold
8.Mark Williams
9.Mark Harvey
10.Neil Craig
11.Ross Lyon
12.Matthew Knights
13.Brett Ratten
14.Dean Bailey
15.Jade Rawlings
16.Darren Crocker

Just goes to show Mark Williams has lost his grip on reality. ALL AFL coaches are highly paid. If he thinks his wages are "middle of the range", he's a dunce.

I can't believe Choco was the highest paid in the league. For a club struggling for money and having to rely on handouts how can they pay their coach the most? Glad that has been sorted out.

Also, what are you on about AH? Most people would struggle to live on 600 grand per year!

I can't believe anyone is prepared to pay any of them, or any player, more than $100K per annum for taking part in a game while we pay our research scientists so little they all have to go overseas to make a decent living...

How many people watch our research scientists work on tele each weekend????.

I agree that the scientist do a more useful job for society however its all about the value from TV.

I think the real question should which coach is worth more to their respective clubs

My order would then read

1. Rodney Eade
2. Michael Voss - promotional value
3. Neil Craig - crap list and still they win
4.Paul Roos
5.Mark Williams
6. Ross Lyon - has done what many coaches couldn't
7.Alastair Clarkson
8. Michael Malthouse
9. Brett Ratten - why would anyone want to coach the blues
10.Matthew Knights
11. John Worsfold
12.Dean Bailey
13. Mark Thompson - do the cats even need a coach??
14. Mark Harvey - useless
15.Jade Rawlings - wont be there next yr
16.Darren Crocker * " " " " "
