It's not too often I agree with Cornes, but theres not too much I could argue against in this article.

Typical parochial navel gazing. I reckon it might be a good match. Cornes, as usual is the master of mixing sour grapes to make yet another fine SA whine.

Didn't read Cornes' article, but the Victorian players play for their jumper, while the others play for....????

That's the problem. It's a case of one team playing for the jumper and the other playing against the jumper.

That's it in a nut-shell lads IMO - that's why they chose this concept

The AFL want us Victorians to support their team, and they want everyone else to want to nail the Vics! That's my read on the game's marketing so far anyway.

I am coming around to it all, I think we all just need to give it a go and then make our judgements afterwards. I bet 99% of those saying they aren't interested in it, will sneak a peak anyway!

How often do we get to see the best 44 players in the game playing in 1 match ... give it a go!

And it was SA v Victoria, then no Victorians went to it.

State of Origin is dead and buried. The exhumation must be for purposes of autopsy only. It's an anachronism, let it rest in peace.

I know one thing for certain. If a club loses a vital key player out of this game with a season ending injury, there will be hell to pay.

Wasnt a SA vs Victoria game proposed. But had to be scrapped because the Power and Crows complained they would have to provide most of the players.?????

Which is pretty poor form IMHO.

They have robbed sa football followers of watching its state team . All because a Goodwin/Tredders may hurt a big toe and miss a minor round match.

The SA teams and the WA teams voted against it because of the load from both their clubs - a mock-up SA SOO team done last year had 17 Crows or Power players in it.

However, I don't think they were the only clubs against the concept plus the AFL had an agenda to involve all states without playing a massive carnival as they only had 1 weekend spare.

So Power and Crows contributed but I don't think they can be held responsible 100% for the end result

i really dont see the point of the whole thing?.......

its either a proper state of origin or its nothing at all.....

only plus is to see so many quality players at one time......hopefully they give it 100%.....

Personally i hope none of the Hawthorn players selected put in any effort at all. Last thing i'd want to see is a player putting his body on the line in a game that means absolutely f*ck all.

Agreed Fremantle and West Coast would not commit their players aswell.
But ultimately that did not stop the SA game going ahead.

I just take offence to Cornes. Apart from asking us if we wanted a game. What else could the VICS have done ?? Then he accuses them of self gratification.

In my opinion the major contributing factor is why we the SA public do not get to see the state team this year. For the first time in over a decade. Is because the two local teams wouldnt commit their players. In case heaven forbid one gets injured and misses one or two minor round games in May.

Minimal interest in the match in the West, especially seeing as though both WA sides are 1-5.

The locals just want to see their sides win ... hopefully the Eagles wait another week
