I reckon so, yes. After half time in both games our defence and midfield got right on top of the Saints and then NM. Jarman took advantage of that dominance to kick some of his goals from lace out passes. Then he added 2-3 from his own sheer brilliance (eg, 1st qtr 1998). But we won both by > his 2-3 individual goals. It's not as though every goal he kicked was manufactured by him only out of impossible spots. A few of them came down to simply kicking straight from set shots.
Blighty showed his game structure could cope with key players missing when Modra was injured in the 1997 prelim. It seemed season over when that happened but look what happened ... others stepped up (hello Shane Ellen). Do you think we would have won if McLeod didn't play? Or if Hart didn't play in the 1st half of 1998? Or if Pittman didn't shut down Loewe in 1997. We can't answer these questions for sure. All I am saying is that 21 or 22 players out there all did their bit.
