On the flip side to delistings I heard straight from his dad yesterday that Ryan Darling from Sturt has been invited out to Alberton to be part of the summer training group re draft/rookie list.

Anyone heard of any other young blokes who have been invited to try out?

Was struggling to make Sturt's League side at the end of the season, i find that a little strange.

Dominated early in his first season in town, run out of puff by years end, can seriously play and will benefit from experience.

Darling was injured for the last 4-5 games of the year if not more, from memory he played against the Bays down at the Bay and re-injured his shoulder (I think). Earlier in the year when he was fit, he straightened Sturt up and provided a good marking contest at CHF.

.

not sure which Sturt you were watching mate but Darling is not a CHF. Ryan played most of the year on the wing and was probably luck to play the entire year in the A's.

you are thinking of Ryan Herring.

Don't fret too much....Plenty of players dont get drafted by the team that they trained with....remember brogan trained with the crows. The precedent has been set with Porplycia, maybe the crows will look at obst again.

NFC

why nice work AFC?

You can use that line once Obst has played 150 AFL games, at this stage, all the kid has done is spark interest from another club

The Crows are a joke when it comes to player development. A dead set joke. Obst might not develop into anything, heck he might never play an AFL game, but he has POTENTIAL and we dumped him after 1 year. And now he's had a solid season for the Dogs and is about to train with the Power. That right there is pathetic on the behalf of the AFC.

Doesn't mean the Crows couldn't pick him up still. Hes training at Port but doesn't mean they'll automatically pick him up, the AFC may think they may enough about him, and if hes available may pick up him anyway. Personally i dont think hes worth any more than a very late draft pick and as a Port supporter i'd hope we dont pick him up because i think there are better players out there.

NFC

Every player drafted is judged to have Potential, yes I agree, it is not often players get delisted after one year, however, it is too early to judge whether the crows decision was right or whether Obst will prove the Crows wrong...

Personally, I hope Obst gets another opportunity..... maybe he will develop in to a better footballer because of the kick in the ass he got with his delisting

In specific to crows development of younger players....... well here we go again, i
Yes t is arguable that Obst could of been given another year, however we do not have all the information so it is hard to make a judgement call..

Do you really think Adelaide will re-draft him and admit they stuffed up?

NFC you are still toooooooooooo angry

For every Obst there's a Nick Gill

For every Pfeiffer there's a Porplyzia

One door closes another opens for someone else that's footy

Of course I'm angry, I'm still furious. Right now I have no passion for the club. It's Norwood and Norwood only right now. Every article I read about the cCows I ignore, especially the ones about rebuilding when we've just delisted Hinge and Pfeiffer.

NFC

They re-drafted Proplyzia, however does this means they stuffed up, well NO

When the club delisted Proplyzia, the club set him some goals and targets and gave him a committment that if he reached these goals they would draft him, the club stuck by their promise, both player and the club won out....

Obst, how do we know that the AFC have not done the same, who knows?, the club may of delisted Obst with some clear messages, if Obst has taken this on board and work hard and put himself in a position for another opportunity than this is good for kid, if the Crows believe he deserves another opportunity, than I hope the draft the kid.... does this mean the club stuffed up, not in my eyes, what it does mean, the club gave the kid a clear message, most importantly, the kid has responded, I hope Obst is rewarded for his work with another opprtunity

the glass is not always half empty

NFC if that's not a typo you've called your team the 'Cows' - the derogatory term Crow- haters use

Not good IMO

You bag the Crows more than the Port supporters

The Crows are rebuilding -- they just don't want anyone to know.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.
