Can Roy Laird get the dogs to the Grand Final"again"

Postby panthers 2008 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 2:59 pm

Do you think Roy Laird could possibly get the bulldogs to the Grand Final?
They obviously have a good system down at Elizabeth, and they know how to produce players capable of playing hard consistent football.Roy Laird in my opinion is the best coach in the SANFL with an outstanding record, and he must have the total respect of the players. I would think this year with the exit of a few class players (especially Obst and Grima) they may find it harder.
In my opinion if Roy can guide them to the top, or around the mark,(and this season will test him) he should seriously consider taking the next step into the role as an assistant coach at AFL level.I am sure he would have no problem finding a club willing to take him.

I think only injury to older key players could possibly undermine the Dogs this year, and interestingly a few people I've spoken with reckon thats a possibility.

However the Dogs have lost key players in the past but are that far ahead of the rest, and possess enough quality in depth (not to mention finals experience), that I can't see them missing the Granny.

I smell silver polish...

It's a damn good question and there are so many variables at this point of the season it is difficult to judge. If things go as well (no injuries, no dissension in the ranks etc) then I would expect a GF berth as the club will accept nothing short of improvement on last year. Bring it on!

Don't say that. Youll get a lecture about how the other eight teams shouldn't even bother rocking up this year. I always do.
