Re: End of Season Delistings

Dylan Orval (most commonly known as Dylan Awful) anyone?

Finished his Crows career with ZERO AFL games, ZERO SANFL league games and a grand total of having played 17 SANFL 'RESERVES' games for 20 goals and averaged 11 possies a game in the magoos!

Was a number 23 draft pick as well

Report the whole story.

Yes he was pick number 23....in the Rookie draft.

Re: End of season movements. FA, trades, bullshit etc.

Quick thought...why is Patrick Ryder known as "Paddy" yet Patrick Dangerfield is known as "Patty"?

Paddy is derived from the Irish, Pádraig: the source of those mysterious, emerald double-Ds.

Patty is the diminutive of Patricia, or a burger, and just not something you call a fella.

Re: SA vs My Foot Dr Bulls

We can't continue to bat Botha at 6. Won't win anything with him there.

If McDonald is fit to bat and bowl I'd drop Botha everyday of the week. Very good short form bowler. Not so effective in the Shield.

We really don't need Botha chucking down 30+ overs.

All this said. If Mcdonald can't bowl we need to persist with Botha.

Re: Ride-On Esky

Is this you??

A Drunken "test drive" of a motorised esky has cost a man $500 and left him without a licence to drive for 9 months.

Christopher Ian Petrie of Noosa, made national headlines last week after The Noosa Journal broke the story of the 23 year-old caught driving the four-stroke "extreme cooler" under the influence earlier this year.

A packed Noosa Heads Magistrates Court heard Petrie and a friend had each purchased an esky online "for a bit of a giggle."

he court heard that when Petrie and his friend managed to get the esky started, they decided to take it for a "test drive" along Hastings Street where they were intercepted by police.

Prosecutor Senior Sergeant Tony Melmeth said the esky was travelling at "approximately 20 kilometres per hour" when officers intercepted the pair and carried out a random breath test on Noosa Parade.

Petrie registered a 0.160 per cent blood alcohol level and told police he did not have a licence.

Mr Bradley told magistrate John Parker that his client "didn't realise the esky was classified as a motor vehicle" and had not intended to break the law.

Mr Parker said he accepted that Petrie didn't think it was a motor vehicle before asking the defendant whether the esky was "loaded" when he was intercepted by police.

More than a few chuckles were heard from the gallery and the bench when Mr Bradley informed the court "the esky was holding three cans of Bundaberg rum and coke and some ice."

In sentencing Mr Parker said while he "didn't condone driving around drunk on an esky" the circumstances of the case were "unusual."

"I had to consult the statute to satisfy myself that the esky is indeed a vehicle," Mr Parker said.

"It's an unfortunate situation if he'd been drunk on a horse he'd have been ok.

"Never the less you were in a motor vehicle...on a motor vehicle... and there must be a penalty."

Mr Parker imposed the minimum mandatory penalty of a 9 month disqualification for driving under the influence, with an additional month for not having a licence. He fined Petrie $500.

Petrie told The Journal he had learnt a valuable lesson.

"My mate and I thought it would be a bit of fun, but I understand I've done the wrong thing," he said.

As for whether he'd be back out on the esky any time in the future Petrie joked that he may sell the esky, valued at $600, to pay for his fine.

"It has got me into a bit of trouble, it might be time to get rid of it," he said.

I would probably ride it out until semi final stage, and hope they come in another 50 points. This could lift the cashout by a substantial amount.

And then id be out.

It all comes down to Risk Profile, and if you are willing to take the deal (est 40K, or risk losing it all).

I know id prefer to turn my $15 into $40K, risk free.

going out and eating at pubs is the biggest waste of money you can imagine. Would rather eat out way less often, but go to a nice restaurant instead

From a food perspective, perhaps.

From an atmosphere perspective, sitting in the front bar having a feed, a few beers, a bit of banter and a couple bets is right up my alley.

I love food, and eating out at nice places but absolutely love a parmy from the front bar.

Rioli is overrated. Still a gun, but people carry on like he is the greatest small forward of all time. In the end, as a small forward, he has only kicked over 30 goals in a season twice.

Kurtis Patterson holds the record at 18yrs and 206 days (in 2011), according to cricket.com.au

Reading further, Ian Craig scored a first class double ton at 17yrs old, but not in sheffield shield, but against the South Africans. He was picked for the Test team aged 17yrs 239 days soon after.

Re: Australian International Summer

I got an apple watch for christmas, and wore it on the weekend whilst i played a 40 over per side one day game.

I am a fat bloke playing country B Grade cricket. in 2 hr 45 mins, which included 7 overs of medium pacers, I burned nearly 10000kj and covered 12km for the day (would have included a bit of walking before and after the game), average heart rate of 145, and peak 191.

would love to see numbers like that for Starc when he bowls 20+ overs in a full day in the field.

According to this site: http://content.bemagazine.com.au/bemagazine/kilojoules-burned-in-exercise-calculator/
That makes you 180kgs, which we know you're not.

I suspect your watch is giving you higher figures than the truth.

Back when i was playing cricket i wore my Garmin GPS watch for a few matches.

On one example -
Opening bowler (slow-medium), bowled 10 overs - innings went for 37 overs - 2hrs and 31 minutes
I was the skipper so fielded in the slips.

i completed 8.31km.
1hr and 31 minutes of moving time. (10:56min/km ave)

I did once wear it for an 80 over game and did somewhere in the vicinity of 18km but cant find the data file - bowled around 20 overs.

Edit - I dont have a heart - hence no heart rate recorded.

Re: Australian tour of India 2017

The last 43 wickets taken by Australia in Test Cricket against India and Pakistan
2 run outs
41 wickets taken by New South Wales players[Starc, Hazelwood, Okeefe, Lyon]
Jackson Bird is the last non New South Wales player to take a wicket[v Pakistan MCG]

The 20 wickets in the first test v India were all by the New South Wales bowlers
I wonder if thats happened before ?

The previous test v Pakistan[3rd test] , there were 2 run outs, stopping the 20 wicket clean sweep by New South Wales bowlers

If Mitch Marsh does not take a wicket , in the second test[if he plays] the trend is very likely to continue
Jack Bird and Glen Maxwell may halt the sequence if they get a gig in this series

Jackson Bird was born in Sydney too, therefore every wicket in the Aus v Pakistan series was a product of the NSW junior system (including runouts)

Re: 2017 Off-Season

In the end when the dust settles. The crows have effectively traded out Lever, pick 16 and pick 35 for Gibbs,a 2018 first rounder (approx 10), and a 2018 second rounder - low 20s.

I think the trades have mutual benefit for all 3 clubs.

What was the latte like?

Their lattes are pretty good. I’ve been here a couple times but it is also on my never to return list.

I had travelled from the Riverland and dropped in to grab a coffee. Prior to the coffee I rushed to the toilet for a piss - gave the door a shove as I opened it, turned out the locks were poor and their sitting on the loo was one of their (female) staff.
